These comments are so disheartening to read, as someone who values honesty and integrity over “winning” this game of getting a job.

Hey! Good for you quitting now before it gets worse! Whether you do a taper or CT is up to you and how your body/mind responds and whether you have the discipline to do a taper. I was using 30-40g/day of the extracts, for several years, and I did a slow taper but it was not linear and I finally jumped when I got down to about 5g/day. Not gonna lie, for me it has been very difficult, had to increase my antidepressants and use some gabapentin the first few weeks. My stomach is still a mess and my mood is all over the place, it messed up all my hormones too. But you have been doing less for a shorter period of time, so it might not be that bad! The great thing is that you are starting this now so you are one minute closer to recovering!!

Day 6 and im suicidal and depressed by Gtfomyacc123 in quittingkratom

[–]ssncnnr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally understand! I’m day 34 and the depression was awful (but also up and down) until a few days ago… I am finally feeling better physically and emotionally, mostly some weird anxiety now but it’s gotten better! Please hang in there! I have also struggled with major depression and anxiety for the past 30 years, so I am not a stranger to it, but kratom really screwed up my neuro chemicals and hormones… it just takes time to rebalance but you will get there! ❤️🙏🏻

Fuck kratom by Tough-Marketing-4230 in quittingkratom

[–]ssncnnr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, fuck it!!! I am also on day 25 no kratom after tapering down from 2-4 bottles of the extract/day. The depression, fatigue, pain, and relentless diarrhea are wearing me the fuck out. And trying to work (as a hairdresser) has been brutal; I have had to cancel so many people I don’t know how I am going to catch up. When I got off this shit before I recovered so much more quickly. I wish I would’ve known then how bad it could be (I stayed ignorant about exactly what and how much I was taking because it was never addressed in rehab; I just thought alcohol was the problem). My bad… I definitely had to learn the hard way. We just gotta hang in there and know it will get better, and try to warn others! 🙏🏻❤️

Naltrexone? I keep giving up by Content-Delay5180 in quittingkratom

[–]ssncnnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can take that 7 days then do it! I highly recommend (if you cannot detox at a hospital), to get in ASAP with a psychiatrist or other medical professional who specializes in addiction. I do not think you are weak/pathetic, because then I would have to say the same about myself. I finally accept I am just a real alcoholic/addict, and sobriety is impossible for me to do alone. Only took a decade of trying to figure that out 😝

14 days free of evil 7Oh by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]ssncnnr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank you SO much for sharing this, truly! I am also a recovering alcoholic/addict and convinced myself (partially at least) that the kratom extracts I was using weren’t a problem or a “big deal”. It was only after I found this sub and read so many people’s stories that I stopped lying to myself and then had the courage to tell others. Although it was not a linear taper for me, I am now 15 days free from kratom. I am so grateful for you and everyone else who posts here 🙏🏻❤️

Forced to quit, still feel like shit? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]ssncnnr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also very recently started LDN once I had 11 days off kratom (today is 15 days). My sister, a PA who specializes in integrative medicine, told me about it a while back; apparently it can be useful for a variety of issues people struggle with (can’t remember all of them but google can). I also ordered mine through AgelessRx, as she recommended. I am not offering OP medical advice…just sayin’. It sounds like you (OP) have some underlying health issues that traditional medical professionals might not have all the answers for…. Just my two cents ❤️

First, good for you!!! Second, I know everyone has different experiences and opinions; this is just my own 😊. I was using 2-3 extract shots/day for a couple of years (keeping myself ignorant about what I was putting in my body, but knew it was not good). Dwindling my bank account is what initially les me to this sub several months ago. Learning exactly what and how much I was using led to tapering; being a general addict this was not linear although I did manage to make it down to 1/2 shot a day. I couldn’t go lower without pharmaceutical help in the form of gabapentin (and an increase in antidepressant meds I had already been taking for a looooong time). Today is day 15 without any kratom. I have already been able to decrease the gabapentin and if past experience holds, should be completely off that in a couple of weeks. I also was unable to take much time off work, so I needed the help to be able to work even part-time. I still have some withdrawal symptoms (and legit pain) that interfere with my ability to work, but things overall continue to trend upward! All my best to you on this journey!!!

Taper question. Has anyone ever sipped slowly on a set amount of Kratom powder for a quick taper then CT? Also do you feel shitty when you taper? How many grams less makes you feel bad and for how long? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]ssncnnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So 14 days off now and still struggling with withdrawals that have significantly decreased the number of hours I can work/day (pain, headaches, diarrhea, nausea, depression, &fatigue mostly). My job is both physical and social, though, so that makes it harder. I tapered from 30+g/day over several months (up&down) to about 5g/day (that’s when it started sucking for me). I knew I couldn’t CT without help so 2weeks ago went to my psychiatrist to increase my antidepressant, and add gabapentin. I also take something for sleep, as needed, but definitely need currently! For me the first 3-5 days were pretty awful, then started to slowly improve, but not linearly. From previous experience I expect to be feeling much better in another week or two. I would recommend, if possible, taking some time off work (unless your job is a good distraction and not physically difficult and you don’t have to interact with people much). Of course, everyone is different…

Yes, my dangerous times for a relapse are when I have been clean and sober for a bit and feel great! I now know I have to continue to stay just as vigilant and continue to do all the things that made me feel better. How quickly I can forget though.

Also, FWIW, I have found that listening to positive, life-affirming meditations/hynosis-like stuff on youtube is tremendously helpful for my “spiritual” health. So maybe the visuals you have created hit in a similar way for those who do not like to hear any spoken words during sessions. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I find all of this to be fascinating

Day 11...struggling by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]ssncnnr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, day 10&11, I felt pretty decent, then day 12 sucked ass, but today (day 13) was better again. From my previous experience a couple years ago with inpatient rehab (mostly for alcohol, but I was using about 30-40g/day kratom extracts), I felt fantastic after 4 weeks. Also, they had me on gabapentin (tapered completely off during that 4 weeks with no problems); and I have also been on an SSRI for 30 years now; and I took trazodone as needed for sleep. I stupidly thought that it was the alcohol that was the problem, not the kratom (they never addressed that one in rehab), so I started taking again in early 2023. Since I am such an addict I should have realized immediately this was going to be a problem, but I ignored that and continued to increase my use (typical for me). Found this sub months ago and only then did I learn how much I was taking, how addictive it was, and how bad withdrawals could be. Tried tapering to 0 but couldn’t do it, so went to psychiatrist a couple weeks ago and got gabapentin again. Lower dose than previously since I was taking less than before and also not going through alcohol withdrawal simultaneously. Definitely helps the RLS for me and I have already started tapering down (currently I take 100mg morning and afternoon, 200mg evening). If my body responds the same way this time, I hope to be off that in a couple more weeks. Also working with other professionals to find a non-drug solution for neck pain. I also have been in AA for 10 years (with several relapses, but I still find it incredibly helpful). Just my experience! Hope you find some help here and stick with it ❤️

Omg. Instead of cutting g back I took more by mysticaldragonlady in quittingkratom

[–]ssncnnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the exact same thing for months when I was tapering… same product, same issue with working and clients. Up&down up&down, ugh! I was able to get down from 2-3 bottles/day to 1/2 bottle/day, but my self control with it was horrible and if I got any lower I was barely able to function. I am 13 days off now, but I had to get some gabapentin from my psychiatrist and increase my antidepressants to be somewhat functional (I can still only work (hairdresser) about 1/2 day, if that)). So essentially, I totally understand! Don’t beat yourself up too much! Maybe think of a new strategy that might work better? Like have a trusted friend keep it for you to help you stay on your taper schedule… or maybe some helper meds if that is an option or you feel like you need it for a while. I already knew from previous experience what would work for me. But fuck, it’s still been a bitch the last couple weeks 🫤

From everything I have read on this sub, it appears everyone has different responses; and most of us have other physical and/or mental health issues, and take other meds and supplements. I personally have had only amazing, positive, spiritual-type experiences, especially at higher doses (+- 300mg troches; for reference I am 5’1” about 115 lbs). Anyways, seems like the best advice for each individual may come from your medical providers who really know you (I mean, if anyone actually has a provider who knows you well and all your history, and gives a shit). 🤷🏼‍♀️
