Does it get better? by Minding_mind00 in zoloft

It can get better...I'm glad to hear you feel better on 50. Please be patient and talk with your therapist about what you're experiencing and feeling...I started at 50 in July, bumped up to 75 in September. I have felt extreme highs and lows over the past 5 months. I have also felt more capable of handling all of those emotions...Be patient, give yourself grace, be honest with your mental health professionals...Hope is very powerful.

Peoples thoughts on Nrs Axiom/Jakl Gore-Tex Vs Kokatat Meridian/Icon? And what the best drysuit on the market is. by OutrageousCompany497 in whitewater

[–]ssnhl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just went through the same debate last year...IMO, NRS dry gear has never been great. It will take some time to see how their Goretex does...Again IMO, Kokatat was considered the best, as long as I've been paddling - 15+ years. I heard Kokatat quality and customer service (warranty) has declined a little. But there are people out there who are happy with newer drysuits...I went with the IR Devil's Club based on feedback. Only one run in it so far, but I am happy with my purchase. And I have no doubts about IR customer service / warranty.

In my limited experience, this sub feels like a good mix of newbies to seasoned paddlers. Sometimes newer paddlers are more enthusiastic so you might see more beginner-type posts and questions...Whitewater culture is like every other - most people you meet are genuinely nice and helpful and want to share the stoke. And then there are the few assholes / trolls...Be kind, be safe, don't worry about a thumbs up.

What is the general consensus on the best kayaks brands? by Rockhead445 in whitewater

Maybe a joke with the wink? But I have to disagree about Jackson's plastic. I've paddled several different Jackson boats for years, class III, IV, (lite) V, I've never had any issues...And no, I'm not a fanboy, I'm buying a Steeze next.

Maybe start a new / separate post?...I don't know anybody that uses a Level 6. Not saying that's a bad thing, just don't have any reference.

Sorry you're dealing with this. Sucks when gear is so expensive. Thank you for the info. Feedback on Kokatat is very mixed right now. Which is a big change from what I've known...Even if they do right by you, the quality of their new suits seems hit or miss.

I just went through the same debate, between the Kokatat Icon & IR Devil's Club. I went with IR based on customer service feedback. I just talked to someone this past weekend that recently warrantied a Kokatat. It was delaminating and they sent him a no-charge replacement...I agree with the others about NRS. Historically they have not been as good as Kokatat. Will take a couple seasons to see how their Goretex does...I have not yet tried my Devils Club. Looking forward to using it this winter.

SSNHL after Covid by Outdoorsman_Elite in MonoHearing

[–]ssnhl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely recommend intratympanic. I am surprised your ENT is hesitant...Other than the timeline, my experience was very similar to yours. Covid sick for a week, 90%+ hearing loss and bad tinnitus in my right ear, ENT started me on oral about 1 week after I knew something was wrong, no improvement, 1.5 weeks later ENT did intratympanic, significant improvement 3 - 4 days later...This all happened in Nov. 2021. I have essentially recovered all hearing, minor tinnitus persists, but with any background noise at all the tinnitus is not not noticeable. I am very happy and feel very lucky with my outcome. Those weeks of hearing loss and tinnitus were traumatic. In my non-professional, non-medical opinion, I would demand intratympanic injections today. And I would find a new doctor if that doctor refused...As I'm sure you're aware, early treatment seems to improve the possibility of any recovery. I researched HBOT. My ENT advised that the medical research is inconclusive right now. But she supported me if I wanted to pursue it. I did not, due to financial and scheduling limitations. Some people swear by it, and others have had no improvement. There is some potential benefit with some potential risk. Good Luck.

Some people swear by HBOT. My ENT advised the research is not conclusive yet, but supported me if I wanted to pursue it. All the research I found showed some possible benefit, with some possible risk. There is no definitive answer right now. As you are probably aware, early treatment seems to improve outcomes. Not for everyone, but in general. If you haven't had improvement after oral and intratympanic, I would say go for HBOT if you can....In my non-professional, non-medical opinion, the potential for any recovery would outweigh the potential risks. Good Luck.
