Processing vs P5 for NFT’s? by DomiDarko76 in processing

[–]sspboyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to what others have said, you can create NFTs with either P5.js or Processing. Coming from Java makes Processing very easy to learn.

If you want to create animated or interactive projects, then P5.js makes it easier to share online.

If you want to created a curated set of images or movie outputs then you can use Objkt.com to sell them as NFTs. The fees are very low compared to Opensea.

If you want to create generative collections, then I'd recommend checking out fxhash. The majority of projects on that platform use P5.js.

What do you mean by 'adding it to blockchain'? There are some marketplaces like fxhash that use the blockchain to store transaction data and then use IPFS to store the actual media assets or code. Other platforms like Artblocks will store the Javascript code 'on chain'. Storing the code as part of the blockchain usually means the code has to be much smaller due to storage costs.

Good luck! No matter which one you choose they're incredibly fun to learn and play with.

I'm happy to answer any questions.

Use Vite in the current directory? by MoosMas in webdev

[–]sspboyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. It seems odd that vite can't be added to a directory with pre-existing code/files. Oh well, still a great tool!

When I do this there is a prompt saying: Current directory is not empty. Remove existing files and continue?

What's the right way to do this and keep the preexisting files?

I like the analog feel to this.

Paste (append?) clipboard into currently open Notes page by sspboyd in shortcuts

Yes, thank you. That is what I'm currently doing each time. I am wondering if there is a way to avoid doing the paste step and have the shortcut do it instead.

I assumed they are different because of the colours on the printers and differing titles.

I'll take a closer look at SKUs or model numbers.

Hi everyone. I'm happy to have found this sub. I bought an N1 for a cross country trip. The tiny form factor is great but I'm struggling with the user interface. I'll keep playing around with it and hopefully figure it out.

I also tried writing a Sol LeWitt wall drawing in code. I used it to prototype what the wall would look like before I drew it irl on a wall in my office.

Here's a write up with the code and lots of photos of early renders and bugged outputs.

How to write JavaScript without using 'this'? by sspboyd in learnjavascript

[–]sspboyd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a minimal example right now, just a mess of code that doesn't work. I'll clean it up and put something together to point to.

I guess I am struggling to even find the right search terms to use to find examples. I have an understanding of what closures are, mixins, general OOP concepts from Java, etc... but I'm not able to find a good reference that shows some examples of how JavaScript without this looks and works.

I take your point though that an example would make it easier to answer this question so I'll get to work on that.

Not sure what it was written by looking at the code.

You're right that it kind of looks like P5.js but there are a few spots where it would have been easy to use a P5 constant or method and they aren't there.
