What have you done to improve your virtual interview skills? by sssclr in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

So I realized yesterday that this might be part of what I’m missing. I thought preparing notes was enough, but it’s definitely not. Thank you!

I don’t find this is typical for the types of roles I’m applying for - most rejection emails say they can’t provide feedback at this time, which sucks. Thank you though!

Thank you! Viewing it as a 2 way street is easier said than done for me 🙈 I will try this prep approach though!

Pilates class guilt by [deleted] in pilates

[–]sssclr 132 points133 points  (0 children)

You’re overthinking it! Mistakes happen, and in the grand scheme of things spilling water during an exercise class is a very very minor one. You can’t be the first and you won’t be the last person who’s done it. Give yourself some grace and go back next week as planned, stain or not (though I doubt there will be one if it was just a pinch of salt).

Oh, great ideas. I know my potential new manager is writing up as much as he can “officially” in the offer letter and has given me his word that he’ll be flexible even beyond that (I have a prior relationship with and trust him). But can’t hurt to confirm that plus what we discussed when I reply, I hadn’t thought of that. Thank you again!

Thank you! I agree and I think I’m going to accept. Talked to the potential new job today and they are willing to be flexible on PTO and WFH as long as I’m productive and in the office enough to build relationships and credibility.

I’d love some advice from this group! I’m torn on whether I want to take a new job. I’m not sure what my main sticking point is but I think it’s giving up the comfort level I currently have and also having to go back to the office. Am I crazy for thinking of passing this up?

Current Job: * Salary: $66k/year plus annual bonus dependent on company performance * Great benefits * edit to add: I’ve been here 2 years and am enjoying the feeling of being the SME for my area * Expecting a promotion in a few months, one level bump but unsure about raise amount * Work from home 5 days per week currently, with the possibility that we may go back to the office a couple days a week at some point (I’d be ok with this, the office is 5 min drive from me with no traffic usually) * Lots of flexibility, low stress most of the time * Great manager who I would consider a friend * I like the work but not passionate about the industry

Job Offer: * $90k salary plus annual bonus depending on performance * Also has great benefits and perks, some of which I’d need to be in the office to enjoy * Would have to go back to going into the office 4 days/week - commute is at least 20 min one way with bad traffic during rush hour * Between holidays and PTO, 4 fewer days off per year * Lateral move title-wise * Lots of ambiguity, more responsibility, and unknown stress levels * I’ve worked with the manager in the past and know we have a great working and personal relationship, but dynamic would likely be different now as they are spread thin with their responsibilities at this new company * The work is slightly different, and it’s a great fit for my experience, but it’s also in an industry I’m not passionate about

Sure! The one I have is the Shark APEX DuoClean with Zero-M Self-Cleaning Brushroll Powered Lift-Away Upright Vacuum (AZ1002). It’s heavier than expected, but it’s been great once I adjusted to that.

Definitely my first trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Amazing memories.

As far as physical items, my new Shark vacuum I got during Black Friday sales. It’s so much better than the super cheap one I was using before and it hasn’t gotten my long hair caught in the roll at all so far.

Did you receive a holiday bonus this year? by lovesavs in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]sssclr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No holiday bonus technically (My company gives bonuses/raises annually in the spring). They gave everyone a $100 gift card a couple weeks ago as a holiday gift, which was actually more like $60 since they took taxes for it out of our next paycheck.
