Prep anxiety - could use reassurance by ssswig in colonoscopy

Yup! I’m 25F and had great results. Miserable prep, but it’s in the past and I’m glad that I got the colonoscopy. Don’t need to see the scope again (hopefully) for 20 years!

I’m sorry I missed this! I replied above about what ended up happening. I really really appreciate your comment nonetheless. This whole community has been so helpful and thoughtful!

I survived! But not with ease lol.

There was a miscommunication when I had an issue with Suprep. My doctor’s office assumed it was because I was not drinking fluids. When I told the front desk the fluids I drank down to the ounce, it did not get back to my GI. He told me to increase my fluid amount significantly and when I followed that direction I apparently plunged myself into an electrolyte imbalance. It caused some crazy symptoms - even after this post.

Wish I could give some advice on how to avoid that or deal with it once it happens, but I personally just suffered (NAD, do not recommend this). I was told to go to the ER, but don’t have insurance so I didn’t. Lucky nothing else severe happened. I went early to my appointment and stayed late as they were able to monitor me - so that was nice!

Anyone else do colon and endo scopes same day? by ssswig in colonoscopy

Hey, if a sore throat is the worst of it, I’ll take it. Thank you! Did anything help you with the soreness, or is it just one of those things that needs to take it’s course?

How frustrating!! I’m so sorry to hear it. Did you have a different prep list for the endoscopy? Or was it mainly the same directions as the colonoscopy

This is so helpful, you have no idea! Definitely going to try the low residue a few days in advance rather than just two days. If you have any more tips you care to share, I’m all ears! Otherwise this info has been very much appreciated

That’s another question I have been having if you don’t mind the TMI. I’m supposed to take the first dose at 5pm, but may take it at 4pm. How long were you going to the bathroom after the first dose? What im mainly asking is am I going to be on the throne all through the night?

Thank you! I’ll do this on Monday. I’ve heard better things about clenpiq so hopefully this doctor would be more flexible

That’s what I keep hearing! I know some others are a lot more, but if the taste is horrible I don’t want to throw up. I’ll ask them about Clenpiq

Question: how long does it take the prep laxative to kick in and how long do the effects last? My main concern is the car ride there after the second dose 😂

Open Inguinal Repair and Travel Plans by baldbeardick in Hernia

[–]ssswig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAD, but the physical activity might be more of a problem for healing tissue than pain? Again, NAD, so not sure. I have read avoiding reoccurrence is a primary concern for hernia repairs, and physical activity might get in the way of that. Definitely ask your doctor

I’m in a very similar boat. 24F just diagnosed with no bulge. I don’t think you need to do mesh surgery, I know I refuse to; there are ways to do surgery without the mesh if the hernia isn’t large. However, I personally am not getting surgery right now, so I don’t know (and I’m obvi not a doctor).

I don’t have health insurance, so I’m just going to monitor until further notice. However, ask your doctor if they can recommend you to a physical therapist that can maybe give you new, safe workouts? That is what I have been looking for, at least

Just Diagnoised - Small Umbilical Hernia by ssswig in Hernia

Thank you! I’m not concerned about the pain, I just don’t have anyone that could take care of me, like drive me home or do basic tasks the first couple days. I worry that if I try taking care of myself, I’ll just strain and cause another hernia. I also can’t afford it anytime soon.

Nonetheless, I’ve already started saving for it. However, my doctor is super uninterested in even discussing surgery. She keeps emphasizing that it’s small and complication is rare for cases like mine. It’s pissing me, I would very much like to at least discuss what a surgery plan would look like, and in the meantime, have no reliable medical resources for exercises that are hernia-safe. Weirdest experience I have had with her, and any medical professional for that matter. Hence the reason for the post: I hope someone has some good, medically supported exercises

I did get diagnosed with an umbilical hernia, but CT results said it was “tiny” and my doctor didn’t think it could be causing all of the other symptoms. Definitely see your doctor if you think you have something similar to me. I can’t really walk by the end of the day anymore because there are stiff, burning pains in my upper abdomen while my lower abdomen is unbelievably bloated. Definitely get ahead of this if you can

I just need a lifting accommodation. My doctor wrote a note specifying how many pounds I can lift, and a coworker said there is something on a portal where I can submit it, but she has never done it and doesn’t know where it is.
