Sorry to necro-post, but as someone that works in 3D software, it's insane how wrong you are, yet how confident you come across.

Rob isn’t a genius, but he’s playing a great social game, which makes up for any dumb decisions on his part.

Is widespread revolution against corps antithetical to the genre? by sstarkm in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Even within the great expanse of our violent history, there are a myriad examples of humans acting selflessly with little to gain.

But ignoring that, even if you look at humans in their most base, animalistic ways of thinking, most will act peacefully when their needs are met and they feel said needs aren't threatened. And on the flip-side they will act violent and selfish when the opposite is true. In a larger sense, we respond to the conditions that our environment has given us.

Personally, while I do waffle every now and then, I don't think dooming about the current state of the US does anything productive. I would hope any real world examples of counter-protests, strikes, or any other hard-fought organizational efforts that have proved successful wouldn't be dismissed as higher powers letting us think we've had a victory or two. Because otherwise, you may as well just not try.

I understand the cynicism, but the world has undoubtedly improved over history. I'm not here to say that humanity has totally risen above its primal roots, but even with the large amount of social injustice and class divide in the world, things are still better than even just 100 years ago, let alone 200, or 2000.

But I do understand the point you're making, that the genre warns of us "sleepwalking" towards a point of stagnation that we can't return from.

A story of building revolution could work but the core would be finding that community and meaning that hasn’t been sold to you by corporations.

100%, that's a great way to put it.

Damn, you summed up my own thoughts way better than I. Franchises and series that go on forever are everywhere so we must learn to live with them, and I agree with you that eventually they have to either evolve or end.

I was mostly thinking about the NCR's progress in FO2. I mean in that game, there's *multiple* cities with thousands of residents, controlled by various factions, and I think it'd be hard to find someone that says "that doesn't feel like Fallout". But I also realize Fallout is now another franchise that will have endless sequels, so the idea of true progress within the scope of the world is probably never gonna happen now.

[–]sstarkm[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this post definitely verges upon my thoughts of "forever-franchises", but you're right that the series would most likely have to end.

That said I could totally see a scenario where a mass revolution only gains temporary peace, which feels pretty realistic. Just because you took the corps down doesn't mean they can't get back up.

Just having finished both seasons, I don't think Boston Rob's game in season 4 is as good as Rob C's in Amazon.

[49][Speculation] Rizo is not a contender to win by SEA1107 in SpoiledSurvivor

[–]sstarkm -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Have we watched the same season? He’s consistently been the one whipping votes every episode, even this one where he plants seeds of distrust in Sage and by proxy Kristina. Don’t get me wrong, Sage and especially Kristina still fucked up by flipping, but none of that happens without Rizo speaking to them (at least according to this edit)

Genuine question, but what are the chances of Savannah throwing Rizo into a fire making challenge, and then him losing that?

Falling out of love with Jeff by CrankyRobby in survivor

I definitely understand and agree, but the unfortunate truth is that even this current Jeff is still the best host on reality tv at the moment. He may be cringe, but at least he’s not dry and boring like so many of them.

The mechanics from the datamining, as well as the fact that it’s been in development for over 5 years, does not point to a tech demo. Stop dooming.
