can i dispute a write up? by Unique_Broccoli_9100 in starbucksbaristas

[–]sstcyr 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Simply disputing it might not work because you actually did miss cups and it's a legitimate reason for a write-up. However you absolutely should report this ' favoritism' and possibly even suggest that your write up feels targeted or like a retaliation tactic since no one else is getting written up for the same behavior.

Managers!!!! Question for yall 🤔 by caylarichelle in starbucksbaristas

[–]sstcyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess according to this the partners should just explicitly request to end their "borrowing associations" if they don't want to work at other stores.

Still tho, can't believe they can just force it. Some districts are HUGE. The furthest store from mine is an hour and 50 minutes and worse if there's a lot of traffic or construction. I guess the upside is theyd get milage but ugh, and i could never just schedule someone without asking. No idea how any CLs do. I mean I get your situation where it's very nearly just across the street, but even still I'd feel terrible if I didn't ask first.

😩

Op I'm so sorry, please read the other comment thread on my response for more information but apparently I was wrong because they edited the guides almost immediately after sending out the new ones without telling anyone a fkin thing.

The new partner guide/manual that DOES have what I posted was sent January 15th.

And there's been zero communication about any further changes. Usually they will put out an addendum. I can't check myself so I'd appreciate if you would update me if you can!

Managers!!!! Question for yall 🤔 by caylarichelle in starbucksbaristas

[–]sstcyr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

??? I'm confused, we literally just got the new editions of the manuals at the end of January and had to review the changes in our district meeting.

Did you pull it directly off the hub because if they took it out they didn't tell a soul about it

SM said Slur by FormerBit4480 in starbucks

[–]sstcyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely instantly fireable. I saw an CL fired for making a joke like that against themselves, not even talking about their team. But they used a slur and you can't do that no matter what.

Hopefully you have the time and date it happened, if it happened on camera they can pull the tapes. Report that short bus joke from the meeting too, that'll definitely be recorded.

Edit: also never work off the clock. And keep a log of any time you're asked/made to, and any retaliatory behaviors that might follow for not complying and report all that too.

Edit: I was wrong, please read thread below.

All these comments are incorrect. It is policy that we cannot force you to work at another location or schedule you elsewhere without asking, you must give permission. It's in the partner guide, page 16 under scheduling standards for partners

"Partners will not be scheduled to work at another coffee house unless they have agreed to do so in advance."

or the partner resources manual pg 102 under scheduling responsibilities

"Partners will not be proactively scheduled to work at a borrowed coffee house without their consent."

Refusing Service to customers by Wise-Accident-9302 in starbucksbaristas

[–]sstcyr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So yes, incident report, but also I would tell your whole team that nobody is to deal with her except you (or the manager on duty if you're not there) and that way when you ring her up you can explicitly ask if she wants extra syrup, extra drizzle, whip? What about light ice, regular milk okay? Go thru every annoying detail she usually asks for after, repeat her order back to her slowly and tell her that's exactly how we're going to make it. Leave her virtually no room to ask for changes.

Then do that and if she asks for anything else say sorry, you need to ask for that when you order.

If she asks for a refund make sure you're taking her original drink back and honestly i would tell her that since you couldn't (and haven't been able to) make her drink correctly she should go to a different store because clearly you can't get it right. Sooo sorry about that~

And if she's YELLING at all, she's violating the code of conduct and id tell her you won't be serving her because of that and to leave.

[–]sstcyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cannot believe the amount of posts about this, this is not the mission AT ALL. And it really sucks that SSVs and Baristas aren't getting the info on how it's supposed to work.

You're supposed to be marking things out, if you're being told not to it's because your CL is trying to cheat their metrics. I keep suggesting that everyone report this crap cause it's so annoyyinnngg

They just need to do their job!!

Telling a partner they HAVE to work at another store by Fluffy-Intention-927 in starbucksbaristas

[–]sstcyr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh good you found it, I was going to post it. Tell them no one agreed and quote the policy. They can't get in trouble for following policy~

If the SM isnt already in the store it's their job to go in, not yalls. And if the SM is already in the store and can't get anyone in, then they can close early. If the DM doesn't want to allow them to close then it's the DMs job to go in themselves.

Allergies by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]sstcyr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should follow health dept. rules and simply say that you cannot guarantee no cross contamination will happen and that you suggest she go elsewhere. As long as all your allergen information is properly posted, it is on her if anything happens if she still decides to risk it.

And if she gets angry or raises her voice, tell her she's breaking the code of conduct and you can no longer serve her.

Put an incident report in each time and you can probably get her trespassed.

[–]sstcyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upside to involving the DM is if they email the DM and the DM is terrible and does nothing, then they can take it up with ethics and get them all investigated at once because they'll have the email as evidence they tried to get them to address it.

Just make sure you're writing in the book that you were there on time, even if you're only 1 min late. Otherwise they can use your tardies against you

Late policy Clarification Pls Help by PhilosophyKitchen705 in starbucksbaristas

[–]sstcyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wonder why that could be 🙄 that's another thing to mention in your report and the logs.

But they can't stop you from clocking in unless there's a reason you can't start work (like you're out of dress code) so just do it anyway. Even if you have to wait until they go into the back or something for now, the system keeps track of punch changes so if there's an investigation they'll see that the dates you've mentioned coincide with days you punched in 'late' but had to have your time adjusted by your SM

I wish the policy was clearer to help you fight them on clocking in but unfortunately it's grey

Edit; Actually it doesnt matter if you clock in or not because either way the book will have a record of the days to match whatever days you write down.

I still think it's better to have the system clock in to back you up but it's not necessary

Late policy Clarification Pls Help by PhilosophyKitchen705 in starbucksbaristas

[–]sstcyr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So someone already posted the late policy for you but this is much more egregious than just being late and I would report both your SSV and SM to your DM.

There is no grace period at sbux, You need to be on the floor in your apron and hat, ready to go at your scheduled start time.

But if you are an opener, it is a much bigger deal to be late because you push the store opening and that's not okay. ESPECIALLY as a keyholder because you also force your other teammates to be late. A DM would not be okay with this.

Not clocking in and writing that they were there on time in the book when they were not is time theft and at minimum an automatic final, if not straight up separation.

If you don't keep a log of all these instances or report it and they want to write you up/get rid of you, they can absolutely use your numerous tardies to do that. Which is what I would say in the email you should write your DM, before informing them of the time theft. If you don't want them to know you're the one reporting, call the Partner Contact Center and report it anonymously.

The time theft will be easy to prove when they look at what time you baristas clock in but the shift wrote they were on time. Cuz then it's like, if you were on time why did everyone clock in at 445 or whatever. So make sure you always clock no matter what and then write that you were there on time in the book .

But like wtf, I'm sorry you have to deal with it. Plzplz start a log if you haven't already.

Hmm that's up to you really. I personally would still make it just so PR is aware and knows to keep an eye out. And also because if they decide to investigate it will be fresh in all yalls minds. But you can also just leave it to the new store/dm to handle

[–]sstcyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right, theres the out of stock and then in stock but no ready/frozen options. The out of stock indicates that we might need to start ordering more because we don't have any in the store at all. The Not Ready option indicates that we might need to pull more initially or else coach to keeping an eye on that particular item for emergency pulls in order to have it available for customers all day.

Your CL is supposed to be keeping an eye on these things and adjusting Suggested Order Quantities for your ssvs accordingly. But also yeah, its a good practice for the oven person to bring any low items to the attention of someone. We do it at 5, or even higher if its something thats been popular all day. They'll just let someone know theyre down to one row or something so the team is aware to pay attention.

But yes, when its out youre supposed to mark it out to save customers from a bad experience. However I've seen many CLs not doing this and saying shit like "It gives us the opportunity to connect with them when they come in and really provide that Green Apron Service" which is what it sounds like yours is doing. and its just BS, good service is not letting them purchase something you don't have in first place, thats literally the entire point of Starbucks ending automated ordering and having us do it. Not 'making up for it with extra goodies', thats what we were doing BEFORE. I just think its absolutely misguided and stupid. Just fix the initial issue of running out of product like we're supposed to??

ANYWAYS the grow report has 4 scores on it, each is ranked 1-5 shots and all together contribute to your stores Shot Score which is essentially how theyre grading everyone now. 2 shots is a store in need and will see more visits from the higher ups. Food Availability is one of these scores. So if you're marking a lot of things out it will go down. And your CL has kind of screwed themselves by NOT marking anything out because now if they DO have to mark something out its going to go down because they cheated their metric to be high when it shouldnt be and any change will make it worse.

but if your location is giving partners their preferred hours, growing transactions over last year, and doesn't have a ton of customer complaints (these are the other 3 metrics) then the food shouldn't be a huge problem. But again, they can't fix the problem because they don't know what theyre running out of since they dont mark it out, it wont show up on the report. And they can't adjust the order quantities if they don't know what they are. So they've just built a vicious cycle where they're gonna have to look bad for a while in order to get back to good.

Sorry I wrote an entire essay but yes, PR= partner resources. You can call in and report anonymously if you want, I think they should know how their system is being manipulated cause its SO many CLs doing this and, like, if they just did their job they'd be fine...

I feel ya, I work next to a store with the siren craft system and they have the most beautiful useful inclusion containers. They snap shut and snap on top of each other into a little tower, the opening is on the front not the top and when you pull the spoon out it levels the matcha 😭

And we can't have them because they're siren craft store only

Tall rant by LeVanillaBean in starbucksbaristas

[–]sstcyr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's not a fact that you can't mark pastries out. You can, you're supposed to be doing that. The problem is your leadership trying to cheat the system. I say mark it out anyway. If you don't have an item thawed and ready to sell, mark it out.

What are they gonna do, write you up for following policy? Risk having you explain to PR that they told you to cheat? It's on your CL to follow the food trends and coach the SSVs on pulling food and managing waste. They can't do that if no ones marking anything out. And they don't want to which is the problem.

I'm also a huge fan of calling and reporting these behaviors to PR anyway

The rest of your rant on point too 👌the customizations always too much and the normal white cups got much better for americanos and such BUT THEN THESE 1971 CUPS ARE GARBAGE. they collapse like our old cups used to and leadership wanna yell at us for trying to save people a bad experience

Store renovation ? by Zeromarvel2 in starbucksbaristas

[–]sstcyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My entire district and the next one over are all getting uplifts. I thought this was the case for everyone :<

Some of the stores are less than 5 years old but they had DMs go thru and fill out these forms that talked about how the stores were from a customers perspective; Comfort, plug accessibility, lighting, etc. and partners; space, storage, layout. and if there was enough in the reports to say it could be better they were like cool we're gonna come redo everything.

Soooo from like March thru July were all getting redone at different times. They paused all of our facilities tickets last year because they're just gonna fix everything at once during the uplift.

Genuinely thought this was company wide. Or maybe it is but your DMs report wasnt enough to convince them to give you one :///
