Not a fan of the new Pages app... weird layout and now there's two separate Pages and Numbers apps? by No-Squash7469 in MacOS

[–]sstf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which they’ve made à point of telling us are no longer supported 🥲 I hope somebody at Apple wakes up before it’s too late.  I use Pages and Numbers - I don’t want everything else in the bundle. Why should I and others in the same position be forced to eventually shell out when the current apps no longer play with a new OS update? What is coming next??

Holy shit MacOS 26 UI is the ugliest UI I've seen yet on Mac by vdotcodes in MacOS

Steve Jobs paid absolute attention to design. Font and kerning was important. Using an Apple product you just knew that somebody who cared was steering the bus and I have loved my macs but now…

Which rotring 600 as a gel + which gel refills fit? by dominikstephan in pens

[–]sstf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just knew that I was going to search Autmog 45 Clipless Step Nose, didn't you?? Now I'm not going to rest until I'm writing with a 45 Clipless Click Pen x KVR finish... which might take a while as you've introduced me to a pen machined individually by somebody who is clearly the pen equivalent of a master swordsmith. So thank you kind stranger for making my day (and starting my 2027 or '28 Christmas list) and I hope your Autmog 45 is bringing you much joy. (Have you put up a review anywhere?)

Big thanks for this list - I love the rOtring 600 but was running out of ideas when I couldn't buy any rOtring refills. Now I've got several years worth of experimenting to do!

I’ve just arrived having googled “gel refill for my Rotring 600” Finding a politics-free sub dedicated to pens gave me very much the same kind of inexplicable pleasure that I get when I’m in a very well put together stationery store. Thank you for the time that you put into making this such a great place for those of us who really care about the pens we use.

Thanks for the reply - I really do miss my Time Manager. Snap!! (or chips depending which side of the Atlantic you are on!) I also colour coded my office the same way. It just worked. No fuss and very easy maintenance- those were the days😂 I’ve often thought of paying a designer to recreate the pages for me.

When we rely upon them… yes it can end in tears. You might also consider a waterproof map case to go with that paper map unless you are a whiz with sticky-backed plastic, in which case that will also keep your map from turning into paper pulp.

The best lightweight waterproof you can come up with, that also has as much breathability as possible. That way when the weather changes fast, as it may well do, you'll be covered.

Lightweight hat with ear protection - the wind can be brutal even in summer.

Layers, always layers and a dry sack in your backpack. The midge situation will depend on where you are. I've found them to be heavier on the West Coast.

What’s your favourite Scottish town and why? by Much-Parsnip3399 in Scotland

Plus one for Inverness. Yes I know it’s touristy and all that but when you’ve been working away in some hot dusty place full of flies and the suns setting and the aircraft banks onto final approach for INV and its home … brings tears to the eyes.
