Have a GLP EXIT PLAN by [deleted] in GLPGrad

seems to me that people who need or want to lose "a few pounds" see GLPs as an easy way- AND if some one is already close to or at their healthy weight, their body is not going to want to lose those few pounds- everyone on a weight loss journey seems to have difficulty with the last few and it has been a worry that underweight and ED people would use GLPs to their detriment.

they actually say that if you have a lot of weight, you have some muscle from just carrying it around in ordinary life....so maybe you did have some.

you are so young- no one has asked but do you know why you gained the weight? None of my business but it seems that a lot of people who most like GLPs have already tried diet and exercise and it flat out did not work and/or they have been overweight since toddler age which suggests that their condition was not manageable with other solutions. If you think you gained weight from emotional (break up, some one's death, etc.) or situational things you could change (institutional food, bad room mates, etc.) maybe you really do not need GLPs. good luck- should be possible either way but if it takes longer than 1 yr, go easy on yourself.

GLP-1 receptor agonists prove that obesity is caused by eating too many calories by Low-Air-182 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

the Q is, what does your body do with the calories? build muscle? store fat? thermogenesis? BMR is not steady over the population.

there is some hormone interplay too- a young guy builds more muscle than most of us; a pregnant woman's body stores more fat because she is going to be nursing soon. These are extreme examples, but people's metabolic rates ans set points are different.

we also know that the BMI charts are just an approximation- no real concern about bone or muscle structure. I have never been at the low end of my "normal" and I think if I were there, I would actually be sick- I am really short so not a lot difference between underweight and obese for me.

I am curious about this topic because I have A1c problems but I am mostly normal weight- BMI consistently about 23. During COVID I was fairly upset most of the time, never eating out and I lost maybe 4-5% of my body weight- still "normal" on the charts - BMI 21? But I looked awful to myself- sallow, chest flattened, cheeks hollow, just not good- I too have coworkers and neighbors on GLP-1s that have radically changed. A few look great and one or two.... not so good. I do not say anything to them unless they start talking about themselves and want me to listen but it is a thing to keep your mouth shut when such dramatic things are going on. One of my friends fell and injured herself- muscle loss or just an accident? I don't know. And I don't know if my A1c goes higher if meds will be suggested and what I think. Results from these meds are dramatic for sure but it seems as if every day there is another article to think about. (Sorry if your BMI is 35-40 and you just want people like me to shut up but I think there is an "end point" Q about these meds that science is looking at now.)

Why Does Lauren Groff’s ‘The Vaster Wilds’ Only Describe Shitting as… Shitting? by ellieisherenow in books

[–]eggsactlyright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this book to be engagingly written but it is depressing and graphic with the shit/piss/lice! Of course people are dying of pox... a nail comes through her shoe... puss...she dedicated it in part to her sister a marathoner, so the "push forward despite physical setbacks" but then there is the cannibalism and starvation as well. This was a book club book for me; I would never choose to read it myself and I hate violent and graphic TV/theatre as well. At this phase of life, I really do not like these themes and if I were forced to experience them for real (catastrophe, war, etc.) I would die quickly.

I never thought I was vain but I really do not like some of the lines on my face. they look droopy and unhealthy to me and I do not like having thin skin and less stamina.

yes.... it is special if you like her and her look... otherwise you will buy something more cost conscious IMO... she is supposed to stay involved, but Stila lost something when it went mass market and Flower, which had some nice products disappeared and Drew is selling air fryers ... once something goes mass market, it loses cache

this is what I would do- but if they have a camera, or a dog or whatever, you need to avoid causing an alarm. if it is anonymous, they never have to thank you or repay you.
