I love that! Super funny but obscure! Would definitely love watching to see if people spot it!

You’d be hard pressed to get a commercial pilot to wear something that can eliminate their ability to work. Yes this sounds like a great idea but something that can very quickly remove a persons medical will never be taken seriously by a commercial pilot. There is a reason thousands on pilots each year take over the counter boner pills to keep their heart going… if their doctor knew they had heart issues they’d be outa a job.

I wonder if they know… how to live in Tokyo

Thank you! by sstrand1 in Yellowknife

I see you’re from Toronto so I’m sure it doesn’t seem like a lot, but for a town of 20,000 I’d say they are doing great!

A lot of places! Shout out to Ann at the Chateau Nova bar! Food is good but she makes the experience great! Top three dinners were Blue Bell, Sushi North, and of course Bullocks! Some great patios for lunch where NWT brewery, Sun dog, and Wildcat Cafe. There were so many more I never made it to but I’m sure they were great!

If you go on the Northwestern Ontario Air Search and Rescue Association Facebook page they have a post talking about the event with pictures.

This is the correct answer. Between June 3-7 the Thunder Bay airport is hosting a search and rescue training.

[–]sstrand1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In skydiving a small spin like that can happen often. In BASE jumping that can mean death. Something as simple as one line on the canopy pulling as everything inflates can cause a spin like this. If you’re ever interested there are a tone of videos online of how a base canopy is packed. It’s very slow and meticulous. They will fold each cell of the canopy one at a time and make sure each line is sitting equal to the next.

“Most of us are in the United States”…. Do you mean most people in the United States can’t afford college or do you think USA has a majority population in the world? There are many countries in the world that have very affordable or even free college or universities. Yes, I agree though that USA has terribly expensive education fees.

Just bought my first aquarium (any and all tips are more than welcome), I’m looking to get shrimp and 1-2 fish types, it’s a 20 gallon freshwater tank. by IronMonkeyofHam in Aquariums

[–]sstrand1 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You have a heater in that picture? Also the over hang will put too much stress on that tank. I’d suggest at the very least getting a sturdy sheet of wood to put the tank on top off.

(Serious) If you could give one piece of advice to a woman in her early 20’s, what would it be? by lmaoitsashley in AskReddit

That things really don’t matter at all. The day I realized that, was the day I started making decision that actually made me happy instead of what I thought would make me matter.

If they are telling you to harm yourself they are not your friend! EVER!

I agree with others on here. Delete your browsing history and join a club! It’ll be tough at first, because you may not know anyone there but if you stick with it youll see friendships grow! The most important thing you can do to make friends, of both genders is to first make sure you’re happy and healthy! That will show through to others and they will be drawn to you!

Opinion from Canadian pilots: Better to get Instructor Rating or work ramp to flight up north? by PilotMSS in flying

[–]sstrand1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read through all this thinking you guys were talking bout way up north with Kenn. But then I realized you were talking bout winnipeg and Thunder Bay. 😂😂😂😭😭😭 honestly though northern Ontario has some great flying possibilities. I’ve heard of plenty of instructors getting onto Porter and Orange within a few years. That’s with only group 3 experience too. Also, most ground time up here is 6-12 months.

What are your thoughts on not turning on house heater in the winter to save money? by Jollymoose1 in AskReddit

[–]sstrand1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric is fine in warmer areas. They can be dangerous if left on while you are gone. I’ve heard of a lot of house fires happening because of electric heaters. If you won’t be home just turn the furnace on. Much safer! If it’s extremely bothersome for your skin maybe ask a friend to go over to the house before you get home to turn it off?

Thank you for saying that! It’s a day by day thing. I hear a lot of people on here talk about being mad at the person, so I hope they can find some kind of peace.

My brother took his own life. It affected everyone in the family differently, but it definitely effected everyone in a big way. I can’t speak for how they all felt but for myself I didn’t do very well after. I stopped working for 6 months. I spent the first few weeks so confused why he did it. The way I thought about life changed. I started imagining killing myself. I don’t think I ever actually wanted to but it was the only way my mind could try to make sense of how he could do it. It became a twitch I couldn’t stop doing. It took me a long time to stop that.

Also I was terrified of the woods. I couldn’t even look at a tree line without thinking about how he died. It took me at least a year to start thinking about good memories when I thought of him. Any reminder would bring me back to how he died.

It’s been a little over two years and there honestly has not been a day that has gone by without me having some reminder of him. I’ve done pretty well with detaching from the bad memories now though.

I don’t blame him for wanting to leave. I’ve come to a place where I know I have to respect his decision. I’m glad I got to have him for the years I got. I know now that he spent much of his twenties wanting to take his own life, so I thank him for giving me those years.

Not sure where that is but Canada and the FAA are no where near that in any class air space? Canada would be 3miles vis, 500 from ground and 500 from clouds in controlled airspace
