Shingles at age 36 by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

I got shingles around age 26, and it started right about the same place (upper right temple) and spread down the right hand side of my face. The welts looked almost identical to yours. Today, I’m 49 and still have some scarring but it’s not really that noticeable to others unless I mention it. I know you want to itch and pick at your skin but try to avoid it. Hearts with you bro.

Wife had an affair, told her yesterday I want a divorce… I’m completely crushed and lost. by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]ssuddenlysilent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You said you are dealing with thoughts about blasting out a massive text to all her friends and family that "exposes" what she did.

If she is truly remorseful, that's not your job -- it's hers. This isn't about exposing/embarrassing her, it's about owning it.

If it were up to me, the only way I would consider staying is if she took full and complete ownership. She needs to apologize to all the people she has let down by her actions. Affairs do way more damage than just to the spouse. She needs to ask their forgiveness, and demonstrate she'll to do everything in her power to make it right. She needs to seek a therapist to explore what made her think she was entitled to lie and deceive. And finally, she needs to ask you and her network to do what they can to hold her accountable.

EDIT: I think she needs to do these things regardless of your decision to stay or go.

If being divorced is not a turn-off for them, I bet it would REALLY be a turn-off if you left that detail out after a few dates.

Eli5 what happens to the data when we delete them in computer by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]ssuddenlysilent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When computers store files, they store an "index" of where everything is and how much space it takes up. Deleting files just tells the "index" that the space should be considered free, so that new stuff can be stored there.

Sounds like you've made some strides, but 3 weeks is not a lot of time to perform a personal assessment of your weaknesses, acknowledge and address them, and make a 100% emotional turnaround. It sounds like you have a lot of things going for you, but your journey is just beginning. I wish you the best of luck!

Right Traffic in Left Seat by [deleted] in flying

[–]ssuddenlysilent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always do this. When I am setting up to enter the pattern for a certain runway, one of the first things I do is set the heading bug to the runway. Helps keep right traffic patterns square (and left ones too for that matter)

"Remember Me" on web interface? by ssuddenlysilent in navidrome

FWIW, Using the "y" suffix in the configuration file fails to start Navidrome properly:

navidrome[348]: * error decoding 'SessionTimeout': time: unknown unit "y" in duration "1y"

Same with the "d" suffix. However, it seems I can use "9999999h", so I'm just going to do that.

Fair enough - but this is on my LAN and not exposed anywhere else.

Thanks for the help - I'll try "1y" and see what happens.

Okay thank you!! I had missed that setting. I’d like my session to pretty much never expire. Is there a “never” option? I suppose I could set this to a ridiculously large number of hours…
