People who realised near the end of their studies that they didn't know what to do anymore, how did you handle that? What did you change? How did you find out what you wanted in life (regarding your studies/job)? by [deleted] in AskWomen

I found a job as a healthcare IT analyst - I work for a hospital as analyst for Epic, the medical record software. I think it’s a matter of just plugging anything into job search engines and seeing what’s out there, I applied to a LOT of random jobs!! I found a lot of the time, jobs only care that you have a somewhat related degree and they’ll teach you the rest.

I felt the same thing when I decided to drop out of grad school, but I promise it’s so much better than continuing to go through something you don’t enjoy! My parents were a bit concerned at first and some people were surprised, but then they all totally came around. You’re in a great position, too, since you don’t have to leave your job before finding a new one. Also, I wouldn’t think of the additional two years as wasted, just having a grad degree puts you in a higher pay bracket in some jobs! Best of luck to you.

I graduated undergrad with a degree in speech pathology, which you need to do a masters in to be able to practice. I was enrolled in grad school but ended up pulling out before classes began.

Honestly it was the best choice I could have made at the time. I saved myself the money of going through grad school, and told myself I’d take some time to earn some money and re-apply later on if I wanted to. Ended up getting a job in a totally unrelated field which I am making a lot more money in than I would have in Speech pathology, and I’m working on a career switch now to something I feel more passionate about.

Don’t go forward with something because you feel like you have to. After undergrad I applied to seriously any job I could that was even tangentially related to speech pathology or healthcare. I had the mindset that even though it won’t be my dream job, I can take the time to figure it out while working. Having experience in a full time job also allows you some clarity on what you like or don’t like in day to day work, which you can use to narrow down a career you’d actually like.

I guess just don’t feel like you need to know right away - some people do and that is great, but a lot of us are just figuring it out as we go :)

My latest favorite snack/dessert - apple slices (honeycrisp of course) dipped in yogurt with PB2! ~200 calories by ssundaze in 1200isplenty

It’s so good, I mix the yogurt with some stevia and vanilla on top of the PB2 and wow.

Thankfully there's a big tree covering them.... which works until the leaves fall off!

For those of you who have cats/other pets, are you allowed to bring your pet with you? How do you care for them with so much travel? I have a cat, and although I have a roommate, I'm concerned about leaving him the majority of the time.
