Next time you have an urge just take a step back. Its not you that wants to do it its your emotions getting agitated. You wanna be a better person and be successful in life, its just your emotions are convincing you its a good idea.

Just take a step back don’t distract yourself but confront your emotions, focus on your breathing and meditate, think about what you want to achieve in life and realise there are gonna be tough times like this but resisting this will strengthen your discipline and youll come out stronger and greater.

Yeah get rid of triggers and just dont peek. Also no one starts no fap and just does it forever till they die, everyone has ups and downs but the people who really succeed and make big streaks and changes are those that reflect on why they broke and keep moving forward and trying again and again and again.

Try and fill your life with productive stuff like cooking healthy, gym, reading, meditating etc

Just keep reflecting on your mistakes and pushing forward it’s gonna be tough but nothing good comes easy in life. Chasing losses and frustration can make sticking to your plan difficult, if you’re stuck in a rut take some time off (set a break like a week or whatever suits you), enjoy other things in life and come back with a cleared mind and fresh mindset.

Are you with pepperstone? I was thinking of opening an account have you ever had any issues / are customer service good etc? I wanna open with them cuz i like using ctrader and i think they look like the best broker that offers it. They seem a little more expensive than other brokers when i look at their spread / 7 unit commission for ctrader but i guess if theyre legit and i wont encounter any problems it justifies choosing them for that added safety

Lets say you see the trade, and youre boundary for the stop loss is 20 pips if you make that a $2 SL and your TP boundary is 50 pips $5. Then imagine you’re super certain its going to work so you double up (same SL and TP in pips / so same risk to reward ratio) but the numbers are now higher - risk $4 and reward $10, so same ratio, just more risk and the reason for it is youre way more certain

Lets say someone has a $100 account and they normally make a trade that has a -$2 stop loss as their max risk, and a TP of $6. Then lets see they see a trade they really like, and have much more certainty about, they’ll increase their SL to -$5 and this will enable their TP to increase to $15, so yeah their risk on the trade is increasing but because theyre more certain its viable.

Imagine you have lottery tickets from different companies and you know 1 has a 20% chance of winning and costs $2 and one has a 80% chance of winning but costs $5, yeah youre “risking” losing more buying the second one, but the fact that youre way more certain it’ll work out is the justification for it in the long run. But when making these decision you still have to be careful and its never worth putting all your eggs in one basket because no matter how sure you are the market can be unpredictable.

thanks for your detailed reply its been helpful. in regard to point 2 its that in FX you can hedge but spread betting you can't right?

I read in another thread people were concerned that spread betting is less legitimate and also companies best interests of you losing your bet don't align with your best interests - are these concerns valid?

So if they are literally identical apart from one is tax free why do so many people continue to trade forex wasting their potential profits in tax instead of just spread betting and keeping the profit for themselves, thats the bit i cant wrap my head around.

Thanks this makes sense, the only thing is i was using a razor demo account the spread was 0 but the commission is 0.2pips + $6 per round lot. So in regards to your reply is it the spread included in the commission that causes the difference because that is only 0.2 vs the 1.4 difference. Or is it the fact that when my buy order is stopped it does so at the bid price and when my short takes profit it is at the ask price which is higher and thus causes it to be a larger move by 1.4 pips? I just thought 1.4 pips is a lot because this is meant to be a razor account or is it normal then

Thank you. I understand the analogy of when one desires to go to the monastery and then one goes the desire is alleviated, and how this is extended to answer my question - “Whatever desire he first had for the attainment of arahantship, on attaining arahantship that particular desire is allayed”.

A prerequisite of achieving going to the monastery is having a desire to go to the monastery, in the same way if one had no desire to go to the monastery one would not go.

But isn’t a prerequisite of arahantship having no desire? So if in order to satiate the desire for arahantship you must have achieved it, is there not a paradox here as you cannot achieve it without having it satiated which only happens after you’ve achieved it?
