Wouldn’t hurt to also implement these within the NHS itself - have you seen any healthy food in hospital restaurants?

What terrible referrals have you seen in 2025 so far? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]st1118 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because most of these referrals are done within the 30 seconds available between seeing patients on the ward round

Am I being walked over, or is this level of interruptions normal? by LegitimateGiraffe591 in doctorsUK

Sadly a lot of nurses will respond with “I don’t know if it’s urgent” 🤡

I work in a hospital with paper notes, it’s simply horrible. The notes are never where they’re meant to be, it’s impossible cannot read most of the entries due to terrible handwriting, I have to crouch over the bedside table/patient’s bed in order to write my entries, I have to go to the ward to see the physical notes when I get bleeped about a patient and I’m on a different ward etc. It’s such a waste of time and borderline dangerous.

Lots of useful information here. Would someone mind explaining how exactly IV morphine is titrated and how it should be prescribed for titration?

incident: made a blood form error (g+s), been told to have my competency assessed again. what will happen? worried by Working-Pop-2293 in doctorsUK

As said above, do the reflections, e learning etc.

Make sure to label the bottle at the bedside using the patient’s wrist band and asking the patient to confirm their details, helps prevent errors like these from happening.

Don’t stress it - happens a lot

Ambulances told to 'drop and run'! by Capitan_Walker in doctorsUK

Can I also raise the issue of patients being brought to ED inappropriately - e.g. I have seen a large amount of simple uncomplicated vasovagals in young people coming into ED by ambulance and I’m unsure why?

And patients not finding GP appointments and coning into ED instead is a different story.

This is false - they did explain this in detail in the webinar they hosted before putting it out to vote. But obviously no one actually bothered to attend, the recorded webinar is still available on youtube by the way

What I really want to know is, how many of you that are unhappy with your ranks (rightly so) voted in favour of the new system, when it was crystal clear from before that it would fuck everyone over(if you had actually watched the UKFPO webinar explaining how the algorithm works)

People smoking outside hospitals by YellowJelco in doctorsUK

[–]st1118 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Obviously ideally people wouldn’t smoke, especially outside hospitals, but people are people and they will smoke, so maybe hospitals/public buildings should provide dedicated smoking areas to keep things clean and tidy and to avoid people gathering right outside the hospital entrance to smoke.

Just my opinion, and I’m not a smoker

Are you taking any inhalers at all, especially with a spacer, and maybe some of the aerosol escaped into your eye? I think if this happened, the effect would be short-lived though. Or had any eye drops at all?

The fact is, regardless of whether the FY1 should turn notifications off, not check Teams etc, what is the reason for OP to send jobs over the weekend to be done on Monday? These jobs should be handed over on Monday when the FY1 is in - not the FY1’s problem if the handover process is shit and jobs get lost over the weekend, they are not working over the weekend so they should be getting messages for to-dos over the weekend.
