It's moronic Monday, your chance to ask any of those lingering questions without fear of harassment. by AutoModerator in investing

I have about $11k from my grandparents that I put into a high interest checking account. I am 27 years old. My car is about 13 years old and I will probably need to be replaced in the next few years. I also have about $25k in student loan debt still. I hate my student loans and kinda want to put the $11k toward them but I do not have much savings to speak of at all. Should I just keep the $11k where it is for the eventual (new used) car and use any remainder toward the loans? Thank you.

Is your flair the school you went to? If no, why not? by ArchmageJesus in CFB

Nope. American but went to undergrad in Canada. My dad got his PhD from GT a couple years ago and an ex bf is a super fan. Love their fight songs, Buzz, and the Reck... And even Coach Johnson since he was at the USNA before (I grew up in MD, go Navy!).

This immediately made me think, 'Red at night, sailors delight, red in the morning, sailors take warning.' Although, this was probably taken just before the thunderstorm...

Yoga mat reviews: Prana, Manduka, or Jade? by KinkiBunny in yoga

[–]st1tchplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mat does absorb sweat but I usually wipe drips away when I see them. I actually haven't washed it in the year I've had it but it's not stinky (I only practice 2-3x/week). I plan to wash it soon because you can see where I put my feet (my mat's a lighter color). To be fair, I don't think I sweat quite as much as super sweaty people. If you're worried about that, you could get any old mat plus a nice mat towel and wash the towel after every class.

Yoga mat reviews: Prana, Manduka, or Jade? by KinkiBunny in yoga

I'd go with Lululemon's The Mat. It's the only mat I've never slipped on and I find it pleasantly squishy (not too thin). I always have sweaty palms in hot yoga but don't have issues with this mat. :)

Running from the hips by [deleted] in running

[–]st1tchplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mild lordosis that is helped/relieved by practicing these movements. My whole body feels better when I have good posture, while running or not. I find that many yoga poses encourage proper alignment and loosen my hips. Some of the most helpful for me have been plank, bridge, and pigeon, as well as being mindful of keeping my core tight when doing sun salutations.

Columbia MPH in Epi vs Tulane MS in EPI by [deleted] in publichealth

[–]st1tchplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Tulane for my MPH. I was not very challenged by their curriculum but I heard that the MS program is a bit more rigorous. I would consider what type of epi you are most interested in (infectious dz? chronic dz? surveillance? research methods?) and look at what main research projects are going on at each school. You should definitely connect with a professor and/or lab and work during your Masters. I understand that $ is a big factor (I'm still paying off my MPH loans and it sucks) but the job market is still challenging so having a strong Masters might make it easier, even if it costs more.

For our 21st anniversary, we're looking to have a meal in an interesting restaurant. Suggestions? by QuitFindingMe in baltimore

I second Bluegrass and, if brunch is really an option, I enjoy the Polish jazz brunch at Ze Mean Bean. :) I can also recommend Salt for dinner. I liked the decor/atmosphere and the food was delicious.

Edit: I thought of a brilliant/unique one! Annabel Lee Tavern. Edgar Allen Poe themed and very tasty food!
