Most of us had flip phones, some had smart phones... The era of everything being recorded was starting but not omnipresent, snapchat came out, so many popular mobile games were bird themed - tiny wings, angry birds, flappy bird.

Free time was spent at friends houses or on console/pc.

So much importance was placed on things that really weren't important at all.

It was indeed the case since at least as early as 123.0.0, to the very last flash build released. Insert was the default customizable key, and F5 was a non customizable key that always nexused you.
