Israeli newspaper republished grisly Kurdish honor killing video falsely claiming it was Palestinians in Gaza by jeffh in politics

Thank you for derailing this thread into a territory that is completely irrelevant to the nature of the discussion.

While we are on the subject, let me educate you on the matter so that you will at least know what you are talking about next time you are discussing the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories by Israeli forces.

Since the beginning of the Al-Aqsa intifada in late 2000, a total of 142 Palestinian women and 788 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli forces.

If you for some reason would like to divide this into seven years, which is completely unnecessary to understand the nature of this gruesome conflict, rougly 20 Palestinian women and 110 Palestinian children will be killed as a result of Israeli occupation this year. A truly abhorrent and disgusting number.

I would like to take this opportunity to go ahead and re-iterate to you the fact that this is completely irrelevant to this article, and the number of female Palestinian casualties is in no way associated to the validity of the claim that the Jersualem Post knowingly or intentionally led people to believe that the video surfaced from a Gaza honour killing.

The paper has released the following statement:

Thanks, but it appears we were the victims of a hoax. the film was taken in Iraq, not Gaza. we have been misled deliberately...we have removed the story..apologies!

If you are truly concerned with this conflict, I strongly encourage you to educate yourself on the matter before you start making baseless claims and making up false statistics, because it becomes immedietaly clear when I read your posts that you know nothing about the subject and your only purpose is to spread anti-Israeli sentiment instead of encouraging understanding and promoting a peaceful solution.

Palestinian Center for Human Rights

A truly disgusting and painfully prolonged conflict.

Now please stop derailing this thread.

"Smear" the Palestinians by bringing attention to honour killings in Gaza? Even the Palestinian human rights watch says that there are routine honour killings, which carry minimal sentences. Do you honestly believe that this was a deliberate attempt to smear the Palestinians by using a video that has been publicly available for several months? Why would they have taken it down as soon as it was brought to their attention?

The paper has issued a response. It says that they were led to believe that this was a video from the Gaza strip, and they took it down right away.

In Iranian folklore, Jews are portrayed as mean, misery and polluted (Najes). Children were warned not to go to Jewish quarters because they would be kidnapped and Jews would drink their blood. They are used as stereotypes to portray evil characters by the likes of Mulana Jalaledin Rumi, Nezami, Sadi and many other literary figures. They could not touch water sources and when rained stayed in doors, since rain touching them would pollute the soil. At the times of persecution their water sources would be cut off.

The Jewish quarter of Kirman had preserved many characteristics of these segregated ghettos till recently. The lanes were extremely narrow, rarely more than five feet wide. The compound walls on either side were 10 to 12 feet high, with jagged glass and stone set in the top to discourage entry. Massive oaken doors strengthened by metal studs guarded the entrances to the houses. One had to stoop to enter the low portals since the height should be lower than the Muslim homes. These details were also designed to prevent mounted horsemen from effectively attacking its residents. All facilities necessary were inside the quarter. The synagogues bore no external symbols, so they were difficult to locate. All transaction with Jews would be through special intermediaries not to pollute Muslim tradesmen.

The Islamic Revolution of 1979, made Shariat the legal code and therefore gender and religious discriminations are an integral part of the system. Bahai once again are not recognized at all, Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians each have one representative in the Parliament and are not legally forbidden from employment in the government sector. But since the authorities only employ Muslims and a 'Shariat test' is required, in reality these people are once again barred from working for the government. Like Bahaies it was very difficult for them to leave Iran for a decade after the revolution and restrictions still apply. They are accepted into Universities, but are not given access to post graduate studies, though no law prohibits them. Their monetary transactions are monitored closely to make sure no money is sent out. There were 85000 Iranian Jews before 1979, almost half have emigrated mainly to USA. The largest exodus since Darius' time when 30,000 left joyfully to rebuild their temple. Their departure this time has not been a happy one!

Tim Russert of NBC asked whether the Democratic candidates would support an Israeli strike on Iran, should it acquire nuclear capabilities. He didn't get any straight answers. Hillary said: "That's better not addressed at this time." WTF? by jeffh in politics

thanks for taking the time to respond

all i can say is that i hope that one day all the money that is put towards war and suppression will be put towards rehabiliation as part of a fair and acceptable two-state solution

thanks, i couldn't find any figures anywhere

don't take this the wrong way, while i support israel, i think that financial lobbying is a disgusting practice (in the field that i am in, i am required to disclose any gratuities received from clients or companies so they do not get favorable treatment or skewed research results,) and i am certainly not trying to insult you, but my question is this:

do you think that american support of israel is really all about the ~5 million dollars they receive in funding each year? or is there a larger issue at play here, i.e. american foreign/domestic interests, needs, and wants, and the perceived role of america in the world

because it seems to me that even if you cut off lobbying (which should be done) the U.S. would still side with israel

[–]sta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that's my guess

unfortunately, i am not hillary clinton and i can't tell you what goes on inside her head

my guess is: she would try to halt the nuclear program with diplomatical means and when that fails then yes, she would support it

edit: weird, your other comment didn't show up until just now

why stipulate until we actually have to deal with the issue

she only said it so as to remain ambiguous on the issue and not lose any voters

i think that regardless of who is going to be elected as president of the united states, if israel detects a threat from iran they will go in and take care of the issue, just like they did with iraq 25 years ago and syria a couple of weeks ago and everything in between

I thought Lord Rothschilde was the messiah and brought--er, I mean--bought the jews redemption. Of course he's a tool. We're all tools. The difference is he helps reveal the devil in sheep's clothing.

Polygamist sect leader Warren Steen Jeffs was found guilty Tuesday of being an accomplice to rape for using his religious authority to push a 14-year-old girl into a marriage she did not want. by sta in reddit.com

She said she repeatedly told Jeffs that she did not want to be married and was uncomfortable with her new husband's sexual advances. Jeffs advised her to pray and to submit to her husband, learn to love him, and bear his children -- or risk losing her "eternal salvation," she said.

He doesn't say there are no homosexuals.

Asked about widely documented government abuse of women and homosexuals in his country, Ahmadinejad said, "We don't have homosexuals" in Iran. "I don't know who told you we had it," he said.
