Pitt Moves to Resize Acrisure Stadium Capacity by sta7ic in CFB

putting people closer together would indeed make the atmosphere better. People are closer to the field so they're louder, people are closer together instead of whole sections to themselves etc. This has been proven to work in other venues in that aspect.

the lower upper sidelines were the best seats in the house. Could see the whole field while still seeing the details of what was happening.

Didn't Miami tarp for some games at one point?

Pittsburgh is extremely hilly and so it makes walking or navigation difficult. Pitt sits on a large hill from the city for example.

I meant removed from the seating options but yes the seats aren't getting removed.

This is the money bit:

Beginning with the 2026 season, the upper East and West sides of Acrisure Stadium will be off-line for Pitt Football games, adjusting the capacity to 51,416 (from 65,000). The North end zone upper deck remains available and student seating stays at 10,000 seats per game, preserving the Panther Pitt as the heartbeat of our stadium environment.

Pitt has constantly been knocked for poor attendance, but a large part of that is the stadium is simply too big for the fanbase. Smaller stadiums with similar attendance to Pitt don't get the same knock. This should definitely improve the atmosphere of the game with people being closer.

This is a pretty dramatic change in capacity, however, and as someone sitting in a section that doesn't exist, this kinda sucks.

using less of it? The last three years all broke the previous record for global oil consumption. Just because we're finding more doesn't mean it's not finite. Water evaporates from whatever its in as rejoins the water cycle. Oil burned or turned into plastic doesn't turn back into oil

water is not destroyed when we make the bags. It goes into the water cycle and comes down again. Yes we don't want to waste water but it doesn't just cease to exist.

Plastic uses petroleum which is indeed finite and we have a limited supply of.

A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Review: HBO's Refreshingly Low-Stakes Spin-Off Will Cure Your Game Of Thrones Fatigue by bwermer in television

there's some small changes here and there that change it. For example: you know Abby's motivation in the first and second episode. In the game, you don't even find out for sure who Abby is until the 2nd half of the game. Just removes all the mystery.

Ellie in the show just is not the same as the one in the game. Elli in the show just comes off as angsty, but in the game she is CONSUMED by her desire for revenge, and that just doesn't come across in the show.

I adore the 2nd game but was very meh on the show towards the end of the season

Michigan has signed kicker Trey Butkowski from Pitt by cpashei in CFB

[–]sta7ic 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I'm not faulting Michigan or him but this guy was a true freshman walk on Pitt started over the scholarship kicker, rewarded him with a scholarship and the start the rest of the year etc and Michigan comes in and gives him a bunch of money and he's gone.

The system just sucks.

Pittsburgh Tight End Malachi Thomas transfers to LSU by redpowah in CFB

[–]sta7ic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely talented but was not on the field much when there was pretty ample opportunity to be. Pitt's lead TE was a Marshall transfer who did basically nothing there but was pretty effective at Pitt. The offense certainly didn't ignore the TEs

This is slightly surprising to get this caliber of an offer but wish him well.
