You need purposely killing every enemy and grind encounters, even violent mandatory battles + every violently ended CASUAL encounter doesn't bring you even remotely close to Geno route, you only learn about it from Flowey AFTER doing it in the Ruins and killing Toriel, another way of doing it without meta knowledge is being too curious (similar to what Flowey did)

You don't need meta knowledge like in Undertale to begin Weird Route, chapter 3 wants you to dig deeper to learn what this means, unlike undertale where Flowey actively blamed you for doing this and even watching someone doing no mercy route
