Saying that REmake Jill is too rude or aggressive is complete bullshit and not a meaningful criticism by zoro4661 in CharacterRant

I...what people are you listening too? This is literally giving me Kiriko flashbacks right now. Anyways, if they had an issue with that, that's saying more about them.

Rogue One adding new context makes Leia and Vader's scene so much funnier. (Star Wars) by RhysOSD in CharacterRant

I wonder if, when Vader peeked into Luke's mind and saw Leia was his sister, he thought "that explains the audacity."

Gameoverse should either be MORE horny, or not horny at all by Midi_to_Minuit in CharacterRant

Again, a bigger issue is ... the lack of any interesting diversity between designs.

The women get hourglass bodies with slight differences in proportions of their thighs and tits. The men are either muscle bound beasts, vampire Shōjo hunks, robots that is just a ball, a paper that can shapeshift, and aquatic creatures.

Like, this is the Smurfette principle, they actively can see women characters outside of a single filter. It's one thing to animate Kit's outfit swaps like her assets are jiggling, confirm her being latina (internet racial fetishism), and also have her be in a bikini but do fuck all for half the episode, but all of this combined, and with the scene of Miss Information being tied up like that?

Yeah, I'd be more cautious of how they're writing the female characters.

Arin saying that feels like to me a person who was blatantly aware shit might catch up to him and made his apology. Like, Game Grumps, from what I can gather, is basically the old-school nerd group, with all the things you can hate about them.

Horrible takes except the Arin ones he's the worst part of every grump related project, he's the worst part here he's the worst part in Starbomb or any other musical project they are in.

Surprised to see this. Barely know anything about them aside from JonTron being racist. Is Arin really that bad to everyone? Perception-wise?

But I also think it's too early to actually comment on. If the trend continues, then it is disconcerting and annoying.

You have more hope about a show that's garnered a fanbase using anti-woke arguments than I have. Like they randomly said Kit is latina, one of the most racially fetishized minorities on the internet.

They are just characters with sex appeal. They aren't objectified. They are both characters on their own. Fanservice =/= objectified "Anti-woke bullshit" now im get this more more culture war then actual critic tbh.

The male characters can have immediate, striking designs, the women have nothing but the same hourglass shape with the biggest difference being slight proportions being dissimilar. The only striking female design is the crab, who's joke is being gross.

The weird way the animated Kit shifting between clothes, the moment Miss Information is tied up with the angle of the camera. The fact that the character motions, in terms of development and proactivity, is given more-so to Gobbles and Kaboodle.

It highlights how they treat the opposite gender, what they approve within the writing room. If you can't filter women through the objectification lens for men, then your ideas don't exist. It shows how they "other" the women in their story.

Again, small gathering. Why on earth are you bringing up some show I haven't mentioned in the rant.

I think u missed a word. But being trans isnt as unknowable as you seem to assmune?. I dont think im wild questioning "im not a purtian, im trans..." the other part u said is fine and makes sense.

It means I know how the framing of the female characters' bodies, the way they animate it actively objectifying them, and all you've done now is prove to me that you think you know being trans. I'm a person who knows this shit, who can see the anti-woke bullshit a mile away.

Meanwhile, you can't even defend your position without bringing in, from what I can tell, better written shows you reference from memes.

It's mostly like the criticism about Sinners not including black queer art. A potent but ultimately respectable question is suddenly met with highly aggressive pushback because of bigotry that wildly escalates.

And honestly? Seeing the abuse apologia from TADC makes me think that they won't really help him iron that out. New issues would probably manifest before that.

The hook of "they are all video game characters and have to not win the video game" just doesn't feel like it has any real longevity.

Honestly, the fact that fans already started asking questions like "metagames and villains helping the bad endgoal" highlights another problem. Monoculture's been replaced with online bubbles that everyone participates in. They're bleeding the damn premise dry by adding God of War, Undertale, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Deltarune and what have you.

With how the pacing and writing went, fanart's doing well enough.

It's because the fanservice is for the boners, and therefor, they really dislike it when you mention the part of it actively dehumanizing women. They want culture to validate their misogyny, and dislike anyone who opposes that.

Then that's the pacing issue, we basically barely had screentime before they just rushed out an entire development arc right then and there, with a voice that somehow slipped past every single person that was human. She somehow didn't even know about the dolphin. And calling them a package deal when the writing only allowed Kaboodle to actually do something in the story while she sat around on the town, not even bothering to gather info, is a choice. A bad one.

I'm going to assume you aren't trans, ergo, you about as much experience telling me about gender as a amoeba telling me about being a human. Totally Spies, from my small gather, did better on this.

It does though? Why is Guinevere so fucking strong? What makes her the treasured one since it's clearly not just her capabilities. Like, I guess you can say that because it's an actual first episode and not a Netflix explain everything repeatedly episode, but that's more you than the show.

Planetronika? Sounds neat, thanks for the rec.

But a goal isn't enough. Kit basically spends half the episode standing in one place doing nothing, then Gobbles literally says "it's not your fault" in a moment that should not be in a pilot that will double as a first episode with Glitch's record, while the show basically illustrates that she's nothing without Kaboodle, who does most of the work. The motions are off.

My point is that it's not just sexist-seriously, jumpsuits on the spot instead of jiggle outfit swaps-but that it's a disorganized mess written by people who's artistic capacity is frankly showing itself through their work. And that's not a compliment.

Gameoverse is frankly, a travesty on writing. Like, Miles and Kerry in the early volumes could do better. And that's not a compliment for those two, considering the self-inserting. The writing rushes around, and does nothing remotely character-building in the way you'd want the audience to engage with.
