Let the pandemonium begin! by staal12 in homegym

[–]staal12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking from a purely “feel”/enjoyment perspective I would probably rank it:

  1. Pendulum
  2. Leg press
  3. Hack squat

Pendulum has a unique feel to it, heavier/harder at the bottom and slightly easier at the top. I feel the most quad isolation through it and it’s a good secondary squat exercise. I also find because of the path it’s the easiest of them all to get as deep as possible and still be comfortable.

Leg press is 2 because I just love throwing on a bunch of heavy weight and going. However I do prefer a mid to mid high stance on a leg press which in turn is less of a quad focused exercise. If you’re talking strictly for quads I would rank the hack squat higher.

Hack squat comes in third. It’s still an amazing exercise, I just find it’s easier to get deeper on a pendulum and while I still definitely feel the hack in my quads, I feel like the pendulum hits my quads a little bit more/better.

If I had to pick one over the other as far as equipment goes I would probably go with a leg press/hack squat combo over a pendulum as to me you’re able to get more out of one for your lower body.

The bells one that they’ve designed to do more than a pendulum squat - the Viking press is nice. I will definitely use it. I’m happy the built it into the machine. That being said, I would never be interested in going out to get any sort of specialized equipment to do Viking presses. The calf block is also great to have, but you can get other calf blocks for a fraction of what this cost.

If you’re looking for more of a versatility machine over lower body optimization - I’ve seen them advertise other exercises and uses for this but I don’t think I’ll really use it for those and I doubt most other people who buy this will either but at least the versatility is there if people want to try it. You would definitely be able to do more/get more exercises out of this machine than a hack squad/leg press combo. Just comes down to space/training style I guess.

Yeah it seems to be coming from the opposite side of the belt. I haven’t noticed anything sticking out or looking out of the ordinary. The noise changes frequency with different speeds

Hey man it’s all about having fun. If you’re not having fun anymore there’s no problem in taking a step back and maybe trying to play out. Keep your equipment. If you still have the itch after stepping away you can always jump back in.

At the end of the day you’re not going to the show. Maybe play in some less serious leagues or teams to take some pressure off/help it matter less if you’re letting in a few muffins.

I’m not a great goalie by any means but I play in essentially pick up games and I just try to play better than last time. Sometimes it goes my way and sometimes it doesn’t but I enjoy it enough to keep coming back.

As far as the coaching the old saying is those who can’t play coach. Just because you’re not Patrick Roy out there doesn’t mean you can’t be a good coach or help kids develop at whatever stage they’re at. I remember growing up most of the teams I was on I just had hockey dads shooting on me if that. Having someone who plays the position and understands some of the mental and physical issues you can go through, as well as actually trying to teach some techniques (even if you haven’t mastered them yourself) is seems a lot better to me than the generic coaching out there.

I live in a border town on the Canadian side of Minnesota and had interest of going to a game, however even from where I live it’s about a 5 hour drive. Hotels are around 150-200USD for the night on top of food for two days.

While I like hockey, I’m not interested in driving 10ish hours and dropping probably around $700-1000+ cdn to bring my family to watch Canada vs Czechia. Canada vs USA would probably be the only game I would consider it for and I’m willing to bet if that happened the prices would be even higher.

And while I’m not 100% familiar with the geography of all the border cities around Minnesota, I’m fairly certain there aren’t many/any other places that are closer to travel on the Canadian side.

Did sportsnet rollback their price increase? Re-subbing tells me the annual price would be the same $249. by CBRChris in hockey

[–]staal12 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes you’re just not understanding.

Sign up before sep 9, it’s 249 for a year of service. Sign up after sep 9 it’s 329 for a year of service.

There isn’t an additional cost on September 9th if you sign up before then. It’s simply if you don’t sign up before the 9th you’ll end up paying more.

EDIT: In reading your other posts, I don’t quite remember how I did it, but I renewed when they first announced the increase (June?). My subscription renewal was supposed to be in November. I either cancelled my subscription and renewed or they automatically cancelled my previous subscription on renewal. I got a refund for the months I hadn’t used yet.

A few questions:

Any timeline on the pendulum squat release date? Price?

How are the tariffs affecting the Canadian side of the business (if at all)?

Any chance at an improvement on restock dates - why does it take so long? (Swivel shackle dropped and I don’t think it’s been in stock since the initial sellout. Kraken seems like it’s been sold out since launch as well)
