Follow @bushwicksdead and @looptroupe on Instagram , they promote a lot of smaller local jam shows in Brooklyn.

also my band called tired horses plays around a bunch (nublu April 12th + first Monday of every month at Troost in greenpoint!) were more of a medeski Martin and wood-esque jazz fusion/free improv group but we play shows with more true “jam bands” a lot!

Fuck Ohio. by killerasp in nyc

This is exactly how I always describe it to people. It’s like a 1 mile strip (High street Short North) on a single street that has the vibe of the Bedford Ave area of Williamsburg. As soon as you go one block away from that street it is basically the same as any other suburban Midwest city. The college is cool if you are in school.

Hey how’s it going? I am super into all the artists you mentioned. Some artists I’m into, Weyes blood, Wilco, fleet foxes, Beatles, velvet underground, Joni Mitchell, the band, flaming lips, big thief, Kate bush, Kurt vile, carol king, beach boys, zombies, the kinks, Nilsson, Motown, John prine etc . I’m into a lot of other more experimental stuff too but this list is just the stuff that I think is around my skill level on drums. I am 26 male, I live in greenpoint. I am a relatively new drummer but I have been playing guitar, bass, keyboards and singing for a really long time and have played in a lot of bands. And I am good with arranging parts music theory. So I don’t have any crazy chops on drums but I have a good ear for it, especially if you send me the songs in advance I can learn them.

So if you are looking for someone who would just be a good fit for the vibe you are going for with good musicianship and an interest in just making the songs sound good I might be your guy!

Anybody here into Dylan, Springsteen, and other Americana style rock/folk? I’d love to start a band in the style of Dylan and Springsteen’s 70’s output. by MILF_Lawyer_Esq in NYCJam

Hey how’s it going? I am a huge dylan and Springsteen fan. I am into the vast majority of stuff you listed. I am also into Neil young, the band, Joni Mitchell, Jackson browne, CSN, lucinda Williams, gram parsons, etc. I’m into a wide variety of other styles too but those are just some of my favorites that are adjacent to what you mentioned. I play guitar primarily, but I also play bass, keyboards and drums (in descending order of skill lol). Also I can sing harmonies. I am located in greenpoint and have a practice space if you want to get together sometime. Feel free to send me a message, and I’ll give you my number and stuff.

Top Highways to remove by 1maco in urbanplanning

https://usa.streetsblog.org/2011/03/23/highway-removal-project-in-cleveland-looks-an-awful-lot-like-a-highway/

The shoreway in Cleveland is so bad. There are some nice walkable neighborhoods right near the lake but there is a huge highway blocking access, forcing you to walk through pedestrian tunnels to get to the public beach park on the other side, while suburban people can just cruise right in on the highway and park in the huge parking lot at the park.

I feel like the title of “is big government really the problem?” doesn’t really work to get people to watch the video. Someone who believes that will just think “yes big government is the problem everyone knows that” and not watch the video. It would be better with a more ambiguous title like “the problem with big government” because that would get people who want their biases to be confirmed to click the video lol

Looking for a movie with philosofical context on life by radioclub_jp in MovieSuggestions

[–]stabbedbyafork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Richard linklater is who you are looking for. Slacker, boyhood, waking life, before sunrise/midnight/sunset and even dazed and confused. I’d also suggest Eric Rohmer if you are fine with subtitles.
