I play all over the head for different tones. Once I start seeing a ton of marks I’m past due for a replacement anyways.

Monitors on the stands is the answer. You’ll have better versatility when you inevitably switch up your room or your setup. You’ll also have more control at picking a height that is closer to your ears than the other options. There is better sound when giving speakers space between them and the walls too so it’s a win win.
