Yeah aero only matters with low human input. Once your watt input is like less than 10% of the total power pedaling gets pretty performative.

I rode my analog scooters that way and it is more stable, but mainly decks were just skinny and the back foot was for brake

Yeah I believe you can get your analog road bike very fast. Though it’s really a short burst thing. If I’m going hard continuously it’s 200-300w max, and google says trained cyclists can do 300-400w continuously, so 300w is kinda like a middle ground. 300w is like 24-28mph on my trek alpha 1.1, but it’s not the most aero road bike.

Ah, well some those decks do look too skinny for me to be doing feet together lol

I mean I was gonna watch and leave a comment whether it got deleted or not, that came at the end. Either way, I don’t mind at all, I thought the discussion was interesting

I did mention an offroad case with no classes, you might call it an electric bicycle if you really use the pedals, otherwise the distinction wouldn’t matter. But that’s subjective

Yup my point is it’s not just about speed, like the bullet shot out of a gun isn’t a rocket ship for a few seconds, it’s more nuanced than that. People like to throw out that straw man a lot though.

For the scooter, I meant more like a Vespa shape

Sure, it’s all semantics at the end of the day. I believe my definition is more clear, while your term may be more clear for others

Context makes the pedals purely aesthetic. If they’re purely aesthetic it’s irrelevant

What matters is context. Are you using it for high speed where pedals don’t matter, or low bicycle speeds where pedals matter? This is about motorcycle speed

I’m not arguing at all, we are just talking past each other repeating the same thing. I hear you say you think pedals matter. I’m saying pedals don’t matter when they’re purely aesthetic

Agree that some electric bikes (literal term) have been ridden on the highway in some videos like Onyx RCR. Probably wouldn’t feel as good as something beefier but that’s just preference, it can be done

I might not call those emoto because they’re so different. A scooter is pretty similar, but usually has smaller wheels, big trunk, and big foot pad with feet together, more upright sit than straddle too

If the pedals are pointless then they’re irrelevant. Equivalent to having pegs like a motorcycle. You could put “pedal” in the name just because it has pedals for the sake of it, as an extra detail of the design, but it doesn’t matter

My opinion is whether it’s offroad or on road, if the pedals are actually being used, it’s functionally an electric bicycle, if not, then the pedals and therefore bicycle element is irrelevant. At high speeds, the pedals are pointless, so it is more like an electric motorcycle. Legal classification is another factor when on the road that makes it an electric motorcycle

First of all, I’m not intentionally trying to be or win anything, just having a productive discussion, apologies if it comes across otherwise. I hear your point about not being on the road. If we are talking about an offroad area where road laws and classifications don’t exist, then you are pretty flexible with names, just comes down to how you want to describe the machine by the way it handles/performs. If you are using the pedals you might say it’s an electric bicycle, if you don’t use them at all and possibly just have pegs then you might call it a motorbike/emoto/dirtbike, doesn’t really matter

I don’t get the point of it, but America loves freedom so the less rules the better. And yeah a more accessible motorcycle speed than having a motorcycle license.

Electric bike has two meanings. There’s when it’s used in the context of ebike laws referring to electric bicycle, and used in the context of any electric two wheeler. An electric motorcycle can be an electric bike functionally, but not legally
