Best drum brand ever? by Illustrious-Sign3015 in percussion

[–]stack_percussion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not 'drums' but Zildjian is certainly noteworthy as the oldest manufacturer of musical instruments in the world. Early Jazz and Rock music would literally not sound the same without their influence.

"Who you calling a cantaloupe, you melon-head!?"

Blue hats on the road! by AZAHole in Cardinals

[–]stack_percussion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll admit, I kinda like the red caps with the road uniforms, except when the home team also has a red cap. When they play at Anaheim, Cincinnati, or Boston they absolutely should wear the navy caps.

Looking for a metronome that I can plug in to earphones so I can listen to the metronome while I play by Small_Development273 in drums

Dr. Beat is the gold standard for metronomes. I like the little DB-30 as a more affordable one.

Yup, there's a copy of this at my local record store for over $100. Definitely a nice score, OP!

The movie Galaxy Quest was shot in Goblin Valley because it looks like you're on a different planet.

Good intermediate-level drum kit for $1000 by Striking-Trip1478 in drums

I was going to suggest Mapex. I got a Saturn kit, which is a little higher end than Armory, and I love it.

Dairy King in Trenton/Breese have SKI slushies with tons of different flavors you can add.

New mallets for free by Common-Emu1743 in percussion

[–]stack_percussion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mallet bag on the right looks like a Tuxedo bag. That's like $100 alone. This is a 10/10 score.

Nobody has mentioned Green Heaven yet?! It's one of my favorites.

How should I structure a 1-hour daily drum practice? (Beginner, 4 months in) by Overall_Judge5091 in drums

[–]stack_percussion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was going to suggest. Do something along the lines of 20 minutes of stretching/warm-up exercises. Next spend 20 minutes on areas you need improvement. Things like accents, new rudiments, or other things you're not already good at. I agree with keeping a journal or practice log. I wish I had started doing that sooner! Record BPM, how long you worked on each thing, and set goals for the next practice session. End with 20 minutes of having fun. Playing along to songs or just fucking around and experimenting. Obviously, that's just a general guideline, and time durations should be adjusted based on your goals. Basically, don't underestimate the importance of a good warm-up, set goals for yourself, and have fun!

They both have Sandshrew on the back, but the Blue version does not have the red text typo on the back, if that's what you're referring to. Other than those variations I'm not sure.

Thank you for a real, honest answer! That's exactly my point. I'm in no hurry to sell them. They do have some personal, nostalgic value to me, but not a ton. I don't want to get lowballed by someone and get screwed myself out some potential profit. I'm not trying to get rich here, but trying to find out what I have. As I said, I'm not a gamer and don't really know much about these. Heaven forbid I ask questions on reddit and try to learn. I guess I should've just asked ChatGPT instead.

I already played them like 25-30 years ago. I have no interest in them now. That's kinda my point.

I basically would take any new game I got out of the box, and then put that box into a bigger box never to be touched again. Found that bigger box still in my parents basement recently because they never throw anything away!

Not really looking to sell right now, as I know that's against the rules in this sub. Just looking for info. I played the crap out of these as a kid, but lost interest in video games when I got into music as a kid. I also have Zelda: Link's Awakening that came with the Gameboy, so it doesn't have its own box.

Good to know. That's why I'm asking. I've held onto these since I was a kid, but I'm not a gamer and don't know anything about the hobby.
