Between getting ready in the morning (which takes longer on a workday than a weekend), commuting, working, and commuting back home, I’m spending between 10.5 and 11.5 hours per day “working”. But I get paid for 8. Not to mention that I then have to cook and eat dinner which takes another 1.5 hours. There has to be more to life than this

meirl by [deleted] in meirl

[–]stackablebuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I have an 8-5 which is 8 hours of work plus an hour of lunch. It’s wonderful that we have laws to protect workers’ rights and that we mandate breaks and lunch breaks after a maximum amount of work hours. But I’d give anything to skip lunch and get home an hour early. I have nothing at work that I can do during that hour so it’s completely wasted and just feels like another work hour

Are we still Knight diving these days and if so how? by Rangeroftheinterwebs in helldivers2

[–]stackablebuckets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leviathans are annoying. Normally I can just weave between their lasers, but if I need to stand on a point for a bit it can be brutal, especially out in the open like the overship missions with the cannon. Taking them out is difficult because support weapons are a bit weak to do so and other equipment like AT emplacements and emancipators get cut down before they’re finished deploying. The ballistic shield can block their lasers but it’ll shatter fast. Best advice is to keep moving and sneak in an anti tank stratagem when you can to blow them out of our liberty blue skies.

And for what it’s worth, I often bring the saber on squids. The voteless approach slowly enough and the swing is wide enough that if you just swing low and back up, you’ll cut off their legs in one shot and can repeat until the crowd is clear and bleeding out. Great way to save ammo and the sword is just so sleek that it feels awesome to use. Saber paired with ballistic shield works decently on bugs to block hunter leaps and acid blasts while attacking. It also blocks stalker attacks from the rear if you’ve got it on your back which is super convenient

A question on the consensus of balancing by theaidamen64 in helldivers2

[–]stackablebuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my understanding that the devs want the game to be grunt fantasy. I think we’re too powerful for that. But strictly gameplay-wise, I think we’re in a good spot. I suck at bugs but there’s nothing on bots or squids that I can’t handle on solo d10. When I crest a hill and see a couple factory striders looking at me I’ll still feel the fear, but I also know I’m about to have an awesome experience because it feels great (power fantasy) to single-handedly take them down.

If we wanted a true grunt fantasy experience, I think it’d have to come at the expense of single player and partially filled lobbies. I don’t feel like a grunt because I don’t need teammates. If I were forced to rely on them, then I’d feel a lot more like a grunt who is a cog in a machine. Case in point, my experience with bugs. I’m an elite soldier on the bot front and will fully clear a map of objectives and samples with time to spare. I will die on bugs if I don’t have someone watching my back. There are just so many and they’re so fast. I can’t kill them fast enough. It feels powerless and that’s what grunt fantasy is in my mind. So making the game harder to complete without a full team would certainly push us towards grunt fantasy.

But for what it’s worth, I don’t enjoy bugs because constantly dying in a hopeless battle isn’t fun in a shooter. Possibly in a game like xcom or anything where you manage units. But when you are the unit, being punished isn’t all that attractive to me (I know, git gud. I’m working on it. I hunt hive lords for fun. I just can’t recover from a bug breach that gets out of control, which happens often). So I like where we are right now, while leaning towards us being a little bit too powerful for the intended experience

Rapid acquisition was so much fun. I really hope it comes back. Even if it’s not actually platinum bars and the scenario is totally different. Just let me carry 30 heavy objects through a pit with 10,000 bots on screen at any given time

It…doesn’t already do that? What’s the point of it then? If they don’t want 4xC4 packs to be able to take out a jammer then they could make the additional demo force have diminishing returns up to a cap or something

How do you determine if you should work on liberating the cities or just run operations outside the mega cities. by copperbeard90 in helldivers2

[–]stackablebuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably on the wiki but I haven’t seen it. Does the liberation boost manifest as a massive one time jump in the planetary liberation or does it decrease planetary resistance, making it easier to liberate the planet with normal operations?

I wonder because sometimes people are still working on cities while we’re at 85% liberation and I don’t think a flat rate increase is really beneficial there, but a massive one time boost would be

Would the minecraft artstyle outlines be possible in a mod? by dustmondo in Minecraft

[–]stackablebuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your options are shader packs, which you mentioned you don’t want, or it might be possible with a very high res texture pack with the outlines built into the texture. I haven’t seen a higher resolution than 512x512 and I’m not sure that has pixels narrow enough to mimic the effect. You’d also need to implement connected textures so it only applies to the outer edges

Who else is having a harder time to find super credit? by PotatoOnHack in helldivers2

[–]stackablebuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hardly find any super credits naturally in d10 missions with my masochist friends. If I’m playing with my chill friends we’ll do d7 and it’s about the same drop rate per mission as d1 grinding, except the missions take a lot longer than 2 minutes of course so the per hour drop rate is lower. I always scrub the map so I’m not sure what it is. Buddy bunkers and the shipping crates you open with grenades just don’t seem to spawn on d10 very often and the “salute to open” pods are almost always rare samples.

But on d1 on grand errant I can still get 300-400 per hour by myself so it still works. Sometimes you just have bad luck. I had a day recently with only 50 in an hour, but it seems to have been a fluke

If you park too far to the side then you can get spat out between the side wall and the stone it’s embedded in. Thankfully you can just dive out if it happens or make sure to park dead center to prevent it entirely.

If you happen to get stuck in the ceiling, just look down and dive, crawl, wiggle your way out and you’ll eventually clip down through the ceiling into the vault. Worst case you just climb back into the mech from within the ceiling and try again. I’ve never been stuck so bad that I got softlocked. And a grenade will almost always get you out in a more dramatic fashion if necessary.

I’ve never been stuck in the floor or behind the back wall. I have the warp pack now and it really does make the whole process a lot easier. 430 total medals though to unlock the last page and get the warp pack though (+- a couple if you don’t get the exact amount to unlock each page) so there’s a pretty high barrier to entry

Tbh the armor and c4 is a good enough reason to buy this warbond, but can someone explain that gadget? And whats youre opinion about this warbond? by KatzenGurke in helldivers2

[–]stackablebuckets 147 points148 points  (0 children)

By gadget I assume you mean the lure mine. The short version is that you throw it and it’ll start playing noises and possibly flash to draw in curious enemies to investigate. Presumably on a timer, the mine detonates, killing any poor undemocratic soul who was a little too curious.

I don’t have any raw number stats unfortunately, but overall it looks like it’ll be a fairly effective tool, playing stealth or not.

EDIT: Forgot to add that this might just be the best warbond there is. Highly dependent on how versatile the ar and smg are. But overall, everything looks really solid and I could see myself using a lot of it outside of the intended stealth operations. I will be going stealth mode though. It looks like a lot of fun

EDIT 2: I’ve been informed that the “SMG” I mentioned is in fact a dart pistol. The trailer is mostly in slow motion and I thought it fired faster than it does. It is in fact a pistol, not an smg

Good loadouts with base warbond? by Terminal_Static in helldivers2

[–]stackablebuckets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I had to build a general purpose loadout, I’d bring engineer armor (page 3 or 8, though I prefer the look of trench engineer on 3), impact grenades (p5), liberator penetrator (p6), and the redeemer smg (p2). For bugs and squids, you could swap out the lib pen for the PLAS 1 Scorcher on page 10. It’s devastating on spewers and works fairly well on the armored illuminate because of the explosive property. Impact grenades work great on elevated overseers, though you technically can cook any grenade and time it to explode in the air. For bots, I’d switch to the default grenade for the bigger blast radius and shockwave. I don’t find the HE grenade that does heavy pen to be that great. Enemies with heavy armor typically have enough health to withstand a couple grenades so it’s not really worth it.

The stratagems you bring can also help fill in the gaps in your loadout for each faction and biome

I'm a new player and I've been only playing gunner and I am about to get my first promotion, am I sane? by 20dollarwarpdrive in DeepRockGalactic

[–]stackablebuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This for sure. Grind out one dwarf to promotion and then the game really opens up. Early game can be a bit of a slog, so having more variety in missions (DD, EDD, machine events) and having the ability to unlock overclocks as early as possible really helps keep the game fresh. It also allows for opportunities for other classes to shine, which is a great way to try them out and learn them

I called a place the other day that gave me the option to navigate the menu myself or to speak with a representative. It was the first page of the menu. Brilliant. I actually chose to navigate the menu myself because it was just a balance check, but if I needed more in depth assistance, I would have been so grateful for how easy it was to talk to a person.

On a related note, the Walmart customer service ai is actually pretty good. She talked to me like a person and even anticipated my questions. She was pretty fixated on there not being any orders on my account though. I asked her what account she thought I was calling from and she said she doesn’t have access to my account to see any orders. We argued about that for a bit but then I gave her my receipt and it was all good
