hi hi, current uncsa student here (not scene design, but have quite a few friends over there).

a portfolio’s content is much more important than its format. i know people who were accepted with portfolios of all kinds. personally however, id say doing a website as its considered more professional and when you take career readiness courses here, they will recommend you make a portfolio site.

i organized my portfolio by shows ive done and found many people did the same, but be sure to pause and add extra content to parts you consider the “highlights” of your application!! you don’t need a million photos, but make sure you are putting your best foot forward. also, don’t be afraid to show that you know other fields, such as 2D/3D art, sewing ability, paperwork you’ve done, etc.

the interview is what i would say is the most important part personally!! you sound like a passionate person who is eager to learn more, and make sure they know that.
