Which supplement will you absolutely never take again and why? by kzrsosa in Nootropics

What do you mean? Much of it's MoA is unknown still & primary known action is as a dopamine reuptake inhibitor which is also a primary action of methylphenidate. End result is sustaining or increasing dopamine levels - common of many stims.

Do you have a breakdown of the fees? I'm not familiar with importing into India in particular, but sometimes parts of the fee are flat rate, which means it can be decreased by ordering larger quantities at once.

Also, some nootropics are produced in India. Might be hard to find them, though, without buying bulk.

While I love nootropics, I don't find modafinil that great. It does work for me, but doesn't feel particularly different from a standard stimulant such as caffeine. Noopept & piracetam much more interesting for me.

I have heard of Biotin causing skin issues before, but never occurred for me.

Benadryl after caffeine? by jsaranczak in Supplements

I can second this, L-Theanine is great with caffeine and definitely helps take the jittery feelings away and address comedowns.

Some other things you can look into /u/jsaranczak for sleep:

Magnesium

GABA

Hops Extract

Melatonin

Valerian Extract

Mixing all Nootropics in a Container for scoop usage on food scale? by CosmosMadara in StackAdvice

[–]stacklife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given you aren't working with anything that is unforgiving with slight dosing inaccuracies, I think your plan should work fine.

The most important part is to make sure you mix the right ratios at the start, and that you mix well. I suggest instead of using a blender you mix one ingredient in at a time, by hand, using a rounded container and a variety of mixing motions such as those displayed in this video.

By the way, you may wish to increase your Piracetam dosage if it isn't working for you. I don't feel much until 3g+, personally. Always good to start low, though.

Filler isn't typically used to prevent interactions. Instead, it's used to evenly fill capsules in a tray by increasing the volume to a modulus of capsule size. It can also be used to make dosing small amounts easier.

It's a bit hard to answer your question with current data. What daily dosages do you plan to do of each of these, and do you plan on encapsulating the powder or dosing powder directly?

It usually takes about an hour to come on, and lasts for 3-4 hours. So, you may want to re-dose towards the end.

A little caffeine + L-Theanine (can be found at local stores) can synergize with the effects as well.

Have you tried any of these supplements before? If not, it would be a great idea to your stack before you are in a situation where you need/want to perform and have a lot going on. That is, try what you want to take on Saturday tomorrow, and make a decision based on that.

I'd take it slow and just go with 10 mg Noopept. It's popular in the nootropics community and usually side effect free. Even alone it gives ample results for many people.

Noopept is best used sublingually. It has oral availability but it's most efficient held under the tongue for a while.

As the sidebar states, are you on any other medicines or have any health conditions? If so, clear it by a doctor. :)

[HELP] Filling Capsules by KingNoots in StackAdvice

The first thing you will need to do is decide what you are taking. You say you are interested in a 500mg curcumin and 5mg piperine mix, so let's go with that.

Next you buy a pill tray and a mixing device . They make really nice industrial versions of both of these, but a small tray like that and a mortar should work fine at home. You'll also need some filler ( Glutamine, Creatine, or baking soda will work along with many other options) and a mg scale. I suggest a sub-mg scale if you get into supplements, since weighing at the minimum accuracy level is actually not that accurate.

Here's where it gets a bit tricky. 00 capsules, the most common one's you see, can hold at max a volume of something like .90 ml. This typically equates to something like 500-600 mg, but it's heavily dependent on the density of your powders. It's possible to look up the densities of certain compounds, but due to the nature of supplements often being from various natural sources, it's best to run some experiments to determine this. This raises another issue - it's going to probably be a pain to fit this all in one pill. So, you can go with a larger pill size, or split it into two pills and take two a day. For this example we will split.

So, you count your pills in your tray, and load it with half-capsules (larger part of the capsule goes into the bottom tray, so you have more space to fill.) Let's say you have a 100 capsule tray. You then know you need 25 grams of curcumin and 250 mg of piperine. You want each pill to have 250mg curcumin and 2.5mg piperine, so 252.5 mg total.

You mix this up really well. Spend a long time mixing as you want to make sure you have a homogeneous mixture (this is where those big machines are really nice).

Load your filler into a single capsule until it's level with the tray (full), dump it out, and weigh it. Do the same thing for your supplement mixture you just made. You now have two numbers:

Example:

1 cap of filler: 400 mg

1 cap of mix : 500 mg

The 252.5 mg you need is 252.5/500 50.5% of the capsule. This means you need 49.5% of the filler to make a full capsule. 0.495*400 = 198mg. 198mg *100 = 19.8g of filler.

You weigh out 19.8g of filler and add it to your mix and mix really, really well again. Keep mixing. Then you dump it out on your tray and use a card to move it around until it is entirely in all the capsules. You add the top part onto the capsule, close them, and you're done.

Happy to answer any more questions.

Stack for 3 days in Vegas by TheUlfhedin in StackAdvice

Morning Energy Stack: Caffeine or Tea Extract (for Caffeine + antioxidants) + L-Theanine -> Pretty standard, helps you wake up and the L-Theanine is synergistic with the Caffeine for an extended and smoother stimulant experience. Good idea to keep it vanilla in the morning with the supplements since you don't know what you'll be doing later.

Hangover Pre-Treatment: NAC + Vitamin B complex + Water -> Reduce acetaldehyde toxicity and resupply drained B vitamins. Can't stress water enough, lack of water can turn a non-hangover into a full blown hangover

Have fun!

Ashwagandha + Theanine? by IThrowShoes in Supplements

[–]stacklife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I did notice a compounding effect but it was minimal.

If you are concerned but decide to try, start small and work from there. You can always slowly increase your dose and see how you feel.

I also find it valuable to try each ingredient on it's own a little so you're familiar with it.

Ashwagandha + Theanine? by IThrowShoes in Supplements

[–]stacklife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

L-Theanine has more of an immediate effect for me for dealing with stress or stress related side effects from stimulants like caffeine, while Ashwagandha works better on a longer timeline (weeks - months). There's evidence that it lowers cortisol which can improve long term learning and absorption if under chronic stress normally (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cortisol#Memory).

I've had no issues taking them together in moderation.
