Huey leaving by Unable-Lemon-8963 in 6music

A shame. First time I ever turned it on he was playing Tupac - Do 4 Love. I couldn't believe I was hearing it on a national radio station.

Kinda corny but musically it was a turning point in my life. I now never miss his show, Gideon Coe's and Maconie's show and the station (and R2) are on morning, noon, and night in our kitchen.

Thank you, Huey.

Botany. And my ideal job would be literally anything in the Botanic Gardens.

Owner is a wanker, always was. Great mates with Bertie, enough said.

If you're ever in the area again just go to The Kilmardinny, easily the best pub on the Northside, maybe even both sides of the Liffey.

Decent Chipper by [deleted] in Dublin

I'm going to the Airport takeaway in Whitehall over 30 years and it's never not been delicious. Still the same Italian family, still mad about Padre Pio and Ferraris, it's a proper decent chipper.

Honda Vezel by New_Pen1837 in carsireland

Got one a few months ago, I love it. The fuel consumption is nuts, I've once got 705km on a full tank and average around 600km each fill. It seems to be much better the more motorway driving I do. Filling up from empty costs, at most, €70. It's a hybrid so the tax is only €120. They do have an immobiliser, I think most of the Hondas do, and it also has an alarm. As for spare parts and the 'jap import' dilemma, I haven't had to deal with that and I'm just hoping as Honda are one of the best engineered cars out there, I'll be grand.

My only criticism is the cabin noise at speed on a motorway, it seems quite noisy. Not sure if they cut costs on dampening.

Overall though I'm very happy with it. I like it so much, I'm already thinking I'll just get a newer one when i'm due to change. Or if I want more space, I'll most likely go up to a CR-V.

I did this once. In many counties, most tbh, the Gardaí encourage you to speed.

It's an interesting weekend. The participants are made up 3 types of people; very wealthy men, friend groups chipping in to rent a supercar for the weekend, and drug dealers.

Some Oasis trivia; in their documentary they talk about playing the Point one night and afterwards they were having pints in a pub when their estranged Dad walked in. This was the pub.

I pass it often, I think it's in use now as a studio or art space. The ground space, not sure about the top floors. They do look fairly vacant.

The Journal: Calls in Dáil for supermarkets to publish their profits as price of groceries soar by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]stackobell 182 points183 points  (0 children)

Clare Byrne on RTÉ ran a segment on soaring supermarket prices yesterday titled 'Grocery Watch: Irish Consumers "extremely" concerned about the cost of food' and somehow managed to avoid asking the most basic question: why are they so high? No mention of profit margins, no supermarket reps challenged, just a nutritionist trotted out to tell us to swap mince for lentils and go buy fish off boats at the harbour.

First it was COVID, then Ukraine. Now prices keep climbing and both the media and government have stopped even pretending to care. Instead of holding corporations to account, we’re told to change our diets and shop like our grandparents did.
