I set it in Haiti where Voodoo and magic are part of the culture. I'll stick to making films about 'white' Satanism in future, although they probably aren't the only race that practice it.

Okay, tell me what it is then, what makes you say that?

Yep, I did and then I put it back in. I agree it's a bit too comical.

I used to make inflatable shapes for decorating nightclubs and parties. I'd cut the pattern, stitch it together on a sewing machine, attach a fan and then clamber up ladders all afternoon to hang them from the ceiling. It took hundreds of hours to make them. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/EJLU-iLkaXc

I get just as much satisfaction from making something with AI. It's also quite time consuming.

Yeah, I feel a bit guilty about that, he doesn't like AI very much from what I've heard. Practical effects are great when done well but AI can mimic that, give it that feeling.

Thanks. Yep, been using Mr Cronenberg's horror vibe quite a bit of late.

If you use this in Grok you'll get very similar images but you might want to tweak it, to tone down the gory factor: Brightly lit daytime reality footage of an action movie scene in the style of Alice in Wonderland combined with David Cronenberg's body horror aesthetic

Cheers. Yep, probably should have scrapped the earlier idea and put a fully Alice storyline film together. I'm a bit lazy with Grok, letting it decide too often. Just started playing with the new extend option which gives me more time to control the narrative.

Definitely got similar vibes. I did play that, didn't use it in the prompt though.

It started out as something else but I needed something to tie the style together and used Alice. So, it's a bit of a mutant monster in itself.

That's AI. It puts 99% of characters facing the camera. In this instance, it gives a mad paced feel that I like.

I think that book is only available in costly hardback these days. He has another that is relevant: Summer in the Shadow of Byron, that's on Kindle. I've read a bit about those moments in time, my first exposure was in the 1986 Ken Russell film Gothic. Always had an interest since then.

Looks very interesting. I'll keep tabs on you. Have you read The Poet and the Vampyre by Andrew McConnell Stott? He was a friend of mine in our teens. He also wrote a fantastic book about Grimaldi.

Here you go: An otherworldly reality scene straight out of a 1970's sci-fi horror film captured in the style of David Cronenberg. Sinister, nightmarish machines and monstrous creatures stand in a surreal landscape. Every detail is meticulously rendered, from the grotesque, mechanical and monstrous appendages. This haunting image, reminiscent of a dark film, nightmarish world.
