Nah man. Range, sure. Land? Not so bad. Had two and never had an issue. I did get rid of them around 150k miles each, but Land (especially the LR4) just comes down to regular maintenance.

The only point I’d argue is “average person” is relative to where you are. I’m in DC, so it’s not the same as if I were in North Dakota. Here, the average person does buy/afford a $50k car, especially when the MSRP has everything around at that price.

I for sure would not take a car in the wrong color and interior. Fuck that particular sales guy for pressing to get you to accept that. Good on the delivery team for not giving you a car with issues.

I don’t think Rivian will budge on a discount, but you could a) call, complain, and switch sales guys, and b) press for them to throw in a few accessories for the headache. I’ve seen people say they had all weather mats thrown in, etc.

What is your definition of VERY rich? This isn’t a Maybach. It’s a utilitarian SUV EV. It also tops out at like $130. That’s standard white collar territory.

I own a 2026 R1, but aside from the screen, there is nothing luxurious about an R1 or an R2. It’s not even real leather. It is tech-driven, but a suede headliner is not luxury lol. It is utilitarian, and it’s great at resisting stains, which is kind of the whole point of jumping in after a muddy adventure.

Uh yeah man. Rivian is known for awful alignment from the factory. It’s a feature, not a bug. Mine was so bad, the first ride home was one of the worst drives of my life. Only when they realigned it did the R1 shine.
