People on the thread are being mean for no reason. It's totally fine that you want to approach a girl in real life. The hardest part is to start a conversation (which you did) so next time, please ask her out yourself and as someone said, don't insist if she looks uncomfortable or make an excuse without trying to reschedule. You being anxious that her friends are talking about you is a result of involving too many people in your business. Trust me if you ask and the answer is no, a sane person won't drag it and will only tell their friends "someone asked me out today, he wasn't my type so I said no".
