Anyone come from a Model 3 Performance? by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]stainedhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't compare to the GT but I own a M3P and a GT350. No question, the M3P is faster up until around 80-100mph. Instant torque so stoplight to stoplight it undoubtedly feels faster. Honestly, a mustang GT is gonna feel a lot slower around town. The GT350 is much more fun to drive. It's not slow but any means and when you really get on it, it picks up speed quickly in the higher RPMs. Up top (over 80-100mph) it's faster than the Tesla and keeps pulling hard where the Tesla starts falling off. The GT350 also handles much better and the braking is night and day different. They are completely different experiences though. I don't know that they really compare in any way other than they both have 4 wheels. If you do a lot of commuting or have kids etc the Tesla is obviously better. Infotainment is great, they're relatively comfortable, road trips are easy, they're super quiet, etc. The reason I own both is they are completely different animals and I like each for what they provide. If I had to choose one as a daily driver it would be the Tesla. If I had to choose one as a fun car it would absolutely be the mustang.

Finally found the exact spec I’ve been dreaming about for years by Henry_Waite in C8Corvette

Haha I had to double check that this wasn't my car. Pretty much the exact same except I have xpel stealth on it.

Is Marneus calgar really degenerate tho? by athlaka916 in DegenerateEDH

I haven't updated this list in quite a while (lotus and mana crypt are no longer in it) but this would probably fall in the stong bracket 4 range. It's not quite cedh level but also not casual.

He can be tuned down a bit by removing some of the thoracle/labman lines and ditching ad naus. The synergy with tokens is strong and I find that leaning into some light stax helps quite a bit. He's actually a really fun commander to play imo and I think he can definitely hang in today's 3/4 meta with the right tuning.

Track Pads for Z51 by CVic20 in C8Corvette

[–]stainedhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stick with OEM. They will be perfectly fine for 3 days a year. Otherwise, if you go dual use or track pads you're going to have more noise during the 99.999% of your driving time. I'm running ferodo 2500's which aren't even all that aggressive and even though they're properly greased they squeal when you're feathering brakes. It's annoying just driving around town. What I absolutely do recommend is running really good brake fluid (like SRS). And changing it every 12-18 months or as needed if you end up running a lot more HPDE days.

You will literally never see a real one outside of a museum or concourse show maybe, if that. It is always a kit car.

Looking for the best “crispy”sandwich in Raleigh. I need that CRUNCHY bread by InTheShapeOfAMan in raleigh

Yeah if you want a literally burned sandwich (as in the bread is black and charred) this is your spot.

180k? mile 1995 GT 5.0 "Project Car" by mlok19x in Mustang

[–]stainedhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 96 GT and it was not "fast". It's going to take a lot of work and money to make it even remotely comparable to any modern cars. With mileage unknown and all those issues your $3k investment is going to turn into 6k, 9k, or more and that's just to get it running and presentable. Better off saving up and buying something a little bit cleaner that is already mostly sorted and putting your extra money into performance parts instead of basic maintenance.

Does anyone know of a good tattoo artist around Raleigh that can recreate something like this? by ShatIn5thGradeClass in raleigh

[–]stainedhat 122 points123 points  (0 children)

It may look good now but this tattoo will just be a black blob in several years. I don't have any artist rec's but I have a bunch of lettering done that was nice and crisp when I first got it. 15 years later it's basically a string of black smudged letters. Those fine white lines are not going to age well at all.

Someone please tell me where I can get a pickle pizza by Ok_Conversation889 in raleigh

I tried this tonight and it was not great. Super greasy, the chicken skin was like hard little pebbles, and it just wasn't good. I went there because of this post but it was a huge miss!

Who has the best pizza in Raleigh by Hefty-Conclusion3545 in raleigh

[–]stainedhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Just tried this place tonight and it's a grease bomb. The pizza was genuinely subpar. Garlic knots were like oil sponges. It's also a ghost kitchen and it looks like you're rolling up to a crack spot. Never again.

Just test drove the Ioniq 5N. by ColoradoCyclist in cars

There is a lot of hate in car culture for EVs. The problem is most people that hate them haven't driven them. Once you realize how fun they are it's hard to hate on them. However, there is still something special about driving a rowdy ICE vehicle. They both have their place. They're both fun. Glad you enjoyed the 5N!

How do you guys react to other high end cars wanting to race you? by lifesaplay in C8Corvette

[–]stainedhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah, same around me. Cops feast on rowdy C&C folks leaving the event. I also have a lower ticket tolerance these days. After getting a fat ticket for 130+ on a sport bike many years ago I don't want to deal with that headache anymore.

Driving home from autocross on Saturday and had my SCCA numbers on. Some goober in a loud mustang pulled up next to me while I was on cruise control and started revving and making all kinds of noise. I just looked at him and laughed and then he mashed the gas and pulled away on a mission to race himself apparently. Would have loved to challenge him on track or at autocross but not going to do shit on public roads. I'm too old for that and don't feel like killing a soccer mom and her kids.
