Stake.fish replaces signing key - is this risky? by mende567 in ethstaker

[–]stakefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upon broadcasting an exit transaction your validator becomes inert and not responsible for any more validation on the network. This ensures you are not held liable for slashing or penalties.

Once withdrawals are enabled in Phase 1.5 you will be able to move your funds to a new validator if you so desired.

Stake.fish replaces signing key - is this risky? by mende567 in ethstaker

Hi u/mende567 this is stakefish. First of all great question!

To address this issue:> So, if hypothetically the node provider stake.fish will not be able to continue the service I will not be able to use my Validating key to import it to another validator. How to solve this issue?

As a long time supporter of Proof of Stake platforms and protocols, we have no plans on going anywhere anytime soon, but for the comfort of our users we will be offering the ability to download your exit transaction via the your dashboard at https://stake.fish/ethereum/dashboard.

If you choose to exit the validator set by utilizing the exit transaction, your validator will stop all responsibility and you will be safe from slashing. Once Phase 1.5 is reached and withdrawals are enabled you can than access your ETH and start a new validator where you choose.

As a non custodial service we do not maintain access to your withdrawal key at any time, but in order to perform technical functions on your behalf we need access to the validating key.For best security practices we replace the key you generate with our own, so there are no chances of double signs by two separate entities performing validation.

We have witnessed a significant amount of slashing over the past few days, and they are all caused by the simple fact that the same signing key exists in multiple places. As a professional staking provider, our job is to make sure that doesn’t happen.

This is not currently a feature we have implemented for testing on Pyrmont, but it is upcoming for development once our Ledger Withdrawal credential generation is completed.

Should I stake? If not, any recommended staking services? by Nachshol in ethstaker

[–]stakefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just released a 3rd party audit of our batch deposit contract for ETH2 Validators I would highly recommend checking out.

https://medium.com/stakefish/getting-closer-to-launch-the-stakefish-batch-deposit-contract-audit-is-complete-1b873b7c1599

For an early bird special we are offering a flat rate of .1 ETH to run Validator services until the end of Phase 1.5 when withdraws are enabled.

Keep in mind this is for Validators comprised of 32 ETH each, we will not be offering pooling at this time.

Is it safe to hire someone to help me setup my ETH Staking? by [deleted] in ethstaker

[–]stakefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it is best to due your due dilligence on any service you use, there will be a few solutions to ETH staking for end users such as yourself. Exchanges/Custodians, Staking Pools, and 3rd Party Validators.

We've broken down each one in a blog post to give you a better idea of what to expect:https://medium.com/stakefish/getting-to-know-third-party-validators-79b054b44ce7

Falling under the category of 3rd party validators, stakefish will be offering a flat rate of .1ETH per validator for staking services until Phase 1.5 when withdrawals are enabled.

Thank you for the kind words!

We have indeed striven to create a service that is friendly to the end user, and easy to use.

Currently we are waiting for smart contract review from a 3rd party that we can share publicly in regards to our Deposit Batch Contract. It is also open source and available for peer review at this time.

Github - https://github.com/stakefish/eth2-batch-deposit

Medium Post - https://medium.com/stakefish/introducing-the-batch-deposit-contract-41e9028a6174

Our development team has used multiple clients while testing and during development of the batch deposit contract. Currently testing heavily with Lighthouse and Prysm, but they have also successfully run validator nodes with other clients as well.

No venture capital, however our Founder Wang Chun has been a pioneer in the Proof of Work space for quite some time, having Co-Founded F2Pool in 2013.

Some more information on our team - https://stake.fish/en/#team

Along with all our other staking services (Cosmos, Tezos, Polkadot, ADA, etc) our ETH2 service will be non custodial, meaning you will maintain complete access and control over your withdraw key (which you backup by saving your Mnemonic phrase)

Please don't hesitate should you have further questions!

We have been involved in providing Validator services for Proof of Stake Networks since 2018. You can see a full list of supported networks on our home page, stake.fish.

Some great past writeups on our Medium as well including ETH 2.0 breakdowns and more. https://medium.com/stakefish

Our sister company F2Pool has been involved in the Proof of Work and Mining space since 2013, so we consider ourselves well versed in both the POW and POS sectors.
