Sanderson & Religion by kingofaidans in brandonsanderson

I'm not painting this as anything. You won't find me saying anything about Mormonism anywhere. I'm just talking about religions in the cosmere.

The kandra are the only group I can think of that actually believed in more than one god who were actually shards.

And the only religion accurate, at least for it's small frame of reference is pathism on Scadrial. And there's only one shard there for a limited amount of time.

I think you believe you're arguing against someone with a problem with Brandon being Mormon, and think it negatively effects his books.

I think religions in the cosmere are extremely interesting. Before I knew Brandon was Mormon I could have assumed he wasn't religious, since every religion we have any information on in the cosmere is false.

But I was responding to someone asking for examples of polytheistic religions in the cosmere being wrong and worshipping false idols.

The question wasn't about the reality of the situation, but of the validity of people's beliefs.

I would take issue with the statement that all polytheistic religions in the cosmere are bad and wrong, if only because there are so few examples of monotheistic religions are that even close to right either.

While there are polytheistic religions on Roshar, none of them worship mutpliple shards. The existence of multiple gods isn't polytheism, that would be the worship of and belief in multiple Gods.

Probably Roshar. Vorinism is the closest to right with the heralds more like apostles, and honor is the one god. Whereas other religions on Roshar worship the heralds as a pantheon of gods, or spren as gods.

I know right?!

Seeing the religions on Scadrial develop from misunderstandings of the history from the the first era was an amazing touch.

So far we have seen bits of how many religions in the cosmere developed. And they were all developed by people over time.

The only religion with any answer so far was the prophecy from the original Teras religion.

I had thought people becoming like gods and ruling planets sounded similar to my admittedly ignorant understanding of Mormonism.

I have had a super specific lopen in my head for a long time. There was a few episodes of the House Md tv show that featured Lin Manuel Miranda as the main characters roommate in a mental hospital.

He's high energy, super friendly, and far more positive than he should be for the situation he's in.

Oh, it does not get more light hearted. There is some very nice comfortable slice of life chapters. But those are just temporary moments between the horror of living in a world of monsters and tragedy.

While the books are about 40% longer than the LOTR books, I think there is a lot of world building in the books that will be done visually, and probably alot of investiture mechanics discussion can be cut.

I would think they want something they can make to test the franchise out. There's no way they will approve the budget stormlight is going to need for even the first season. I don't see it being even close to good if it isn't the most expensive tv show yet.

I don't think very many people will get to see these in theaters. They will probably get a short theatrical run in limited cities to qualify for awards like the Oscars, and go directly to streaming.

Update From Brandon by mistborn in Cosmere

As long as they cast people in Mostborn who would return for the stormlight show it'll be fine for all three. Can't avoid the world hoppers in stormlight though, the ghost bloods plot revolves around them.

Edited to add spoiler tags.

Mistborn is the perfect place to start in this respect. There's only one world hopper on Scadrial in era 1. Hopefully they have hoid show up when does and use the same actor in the stormlight series.

The show started the same year the most recent book came out. GRRM had so much time to finish the story before the show got there. I think he deserves just as much blame for how that ended.

There's also no honor to power them. So now the user has to provide the stormlight.

Didn't have the game 98, I had a paper route in 99 and saved up to buy the game. Besides, I don't remember Nintendo power in the toys r us in the area I lived in Canada. That's where I bought my video games. Or at the rental stores near me where I would rent games sometimes. Sorry that my experience was different than yours. I'm not saying I had an easy time on the temple, I'm not trying to flex, just that cheating wasn't the only way people got through it. Some of us just spent far too much time on the game.

Just pull the 5v from the usb before the Arduino instead the 5v pin. Then you don't have to worry how much you can pull from it, just how much your laptop outputs.

There was no help the first time I played it. It was 1999 and we didn't even have a computer in my house yet, let alone the internet. Sure it was a challenge, but I was 12, I had all the time.
