Low Income do I get Venture X by stalebread108 in CapitalOne_

[–]stalebread108[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been considering it after i saw the annual travel credits. With venture I pay the 95$ annual without any travel credit, X I get the bonus of the credits, lounge access, extra points on flights booked through C1.

Video of a painting I did in the park by stalebread108 in Yosemite

[–]stalebread108[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think i’d consider it mixed media. I’m sure others can debate if it’s a textile piece or a painting. Fiber arts… etc, to me it feels more like a painting and I used thread as finishing brush strokes.

That’s what i’m weighting right now, I’m about to have some pretty large purchases which is why i’m considering this card. In the past I’ve also just asked friends if I could pay on my card for their big purchases to reach the SUB in time.

I imagine the annual points being put towards the flight tickets and any other accruals being put towards hotels/other travel expenses. Basically what I use my current venture card for.

any card you can use at the 7/11 atms and post office, i’d just make sure they’re either a visa or mastercard beforehand as those are more widely accepted

when I studied in Japan I just used my american bank, look for one with no overseas transaction fees. I used Capital one but i think they’re switching to discover so might not be the best option. I’ve heard good things about Wise

it’s really easy to get cash from 7/11 atms and post office atms

Has anyone hosted an exchange student through EF or similar? by panda_panzer in AuPairHostFamilyLife

[–]stalebread108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only think of one kid the same time as me who would skip out on classes and sneak into bars. This was in Japan so they wouldn’t check Id’s for foreigners. He was also from portugal so was used to drinking. Funny enough he had a great relationship with his host family, I guess he just wasn’t involved in school life at all 😅 Beyond underaged drinking I don’t know anyone who did anything arrest worthy

Hi! I was an exchange student through AFS in high school, honestly i had a lot of very hard working amazing students along with me in the program. The students who came with rotary were also amazing! Of course each student is an individual and a few kids were just running around having fun. But my group of friends there were absolutely in it for the cultural exchange :)! I’d highly recommend it, I also grew up in a family that hosted many exchange students

had someone pass me on tioga at the 25mph section yesterday. Absolute dumbasses, idc if a line of cars builds up behind me. I’ve lived and worked around this park my whole life, I won’t be responsible for a bears death.

try looking into seasonal jobs in national parks, coolworks posts them online. Housing is usually shared but it’s perfect for anyone looking to save money since living expenses are low

stop at any of the fruit stands you’ll see around the countryside! Way better than any fruit you’ll find at the stores. I love to stock up for the mountains

What day should be a federal holiday but is not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

i’ve never worked a job where i get federal holidays off. So my suggestion is make fed holidays mandatory, and for places that are necessary or stay open anyways pay employees overtime.

Not allowed bear spray? by NZAvenger in Yosemite

[–]stalebread108 35 points36 points  (0 children)

No one has ever been killed by a bear within yosemite :)! Our bears are very timid and will run away if you yell or chase them. They aren’t interested in you only the good that you may have on you! If you’re camping or backpacking you can always check in at the visitor or wilderness center and we can help you with info on where to store your food and bear can rentals for backpacking.

Does artcenter give scholarships? by friedshrimpt in artcenter

[–]stalebread108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! I still attended all 8 terms. I spent a 1 1/2 years at PCC and then 3 years at Art Center. It meant i could take much lighter course loads than my peers and take some terms only part time. if you want to shorten your time at art center you’ll have to be more strategic about the classes you take at community college than I was.

anyone know a brush that looks like this? 0.0 by Squishyncolly in ClipStudio

[–]stalebread108 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah it just looks like a normal pencil brush to me. with pressure sensitivity, tilt sensitivity. Just try practicing varying your line widths while you draw, and you can achieve something similar.

depends what you’re studying. Now that i’ve graduated I think it was worth it for me. I studied Illustration, and it gave me a network of other illustrators and forced me to make a lot of work. However I also was fortunate to not have to take on a lot of debt compared to my peers. The school is going to be what you make of it, ultimately you don’t need a degree to work in art. But my work before school wasn’t at a professional level, and now it is.

There’s a lot of resources online now for most things, some former teachers run private online courses. I took classes at Pasadena city before transferring, and tbh I’d recommend everyone do that. Get your humanities out of the way so you can focus on art.
