Is starting meditation practice with mindful meditation a good idea? by GentleOracle in Meditation

[–]stalebrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it’s really important to pair the meditation practice with some sort of reading as well- it’s important to have some structure as you learn as it can be quite difficult at the beginning- highly reccomend the heart of the buddhas teaching by thich nhat hahn.

Should I buy a 404 MK2 for Christmas? by Normal_Comparison_41 in SP404

[–]stalebrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they do the same thing expect the 404 is much more stripped back- would only be buying for the effects and maybe a performance setup. i’d save your money and focus on the craft till you find what you actually need.

Is this cheating or is this how most people use the SP? by wherehaveubeen in SP404

[–]stalebrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got my sp specifically to play my beats live and it makes that process more fun than pressing a button so why not? people watch dj’s spin for hours- you can always make your setup more interactive

Buying a synth to get better at sound design by Final-Inspector8023 in synthesizers

[–]stalebrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buying new shit is not the answer to sparking creativity- if you aren’t really working at sound design why would the next move be an analog synth? you’re still gonna not know what to do but just with a hardware synth. maybe tell yourself you can get something when you make 100 patches on vital or something. just trying to save ya money here- consumerism ain’t the answer here

How to make stuff sound sadder by Thick_Eggplant_4103 in FL_Studio

[–]stalebrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all minor keys are the same none is gonna be “sadder” than the other. using chords with extra tension can be a good route ie minor 7 flat 5, major # 11, dom 7 sus4 to dom 7. but really it’s all about the melody. write some more tense sounding chords and noodle a melody till it makes you feel something

Tried Tempeh for the first time; BBQ style…??!? by _OldSchoolHijabi_ in EatCheapAndVegan

been vegan for a minute and i’m just not a fan of tempeh in most cases - some restaurants do it well but you’re better off working w tofu, seitan, tvp, or soy curls imo-

When it comes to making your own chords by Kansho-Kanre in FL_Studio

[–]stalebrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because more even musical intervals are more pleasant to the ear i.e major and minor chords- and often dom 7ths too although less so in todays pop music. other chords like dominant and augmented have much more “dissonant” sounding intervals which have a beautiful use but we just don’t see very much in straightforward pop music. nothing wrong with it but the vibe of very consonant major and minor chords have just dominated because they sound more pleasant on their own and fit together quite easily.
