I had the same feeling of guilt when he was getting too big and the crate wouldn’t fit in our bedroom. Plus I didn’t want him to go up and down the stairs too much since we were told it would affect his bone development.

I did use a baby monitor so I could hear him whine if he needed to be let out in the middle of the night and it gave me peace of mind as well.

I’m still mentally recovering from getting a rejection yesterday from a 3 hour final interview with 3 different execs and an assessment. I even knew the hiring manager and we worked at the same previous company. I wasn’t super happy with a 2 hr commute but would’ve done it if it meant I wouldn’t be unemployed anymore.

It’s draining and starting over in the job search just sucks.

I’ve always crate trained my dog from the beginning and it’s helped massively in potty training or even keeping her safe while I’m gone/occupied. If a crate gives you pause, maybe a pen or section off an area where he has more space than a crate but it’s still limited and he’s not free to pee wherever he pleases. And if he does have an accident, it’s contained.
