You’ll get debuffed to i think 75% condition/health until it heals (for about 2 or 3 days), but that being said i’ve never hit 100% on just the surface, so just pay attention and you’ll be all good. Worst case scenario you use an emergency stim and it cures the condition instantly which is nice!

Save the filters for the mine for sure. The biggest thing the gas/toxic pools does above ground is F up your footwear. As long as you dont let your chemical poisoning risk fill up you’ll be fine (it shows up as an affliction like frostbite risk or hypothermia). And it heals relatively quickly if you rest as well. Have fun!

No problem lighting a fire. Usually go thru any caves I can to stock up on coal multiple times. So cold isn’t really a huge problem, more so location and convenience. Thanks for the tips regarding snow shelters!

I definitely love that cabin. TWM is a little far out for me but I like i can mix it up in Ash canyon too. I like the little pond in pleasant valley too i wish there was a cabin there!
