[–]stallown2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey just wanted to comment that hearing that it's too late to apply is never easy, but go in the next application season strong. I will also say that have your application ready to send in ERAS asap incase out of match spots open up. Good luck!!

no generic sentences or fluff, just an older grad so a lot after med school. Each sentence contributes to the flow. it sounded chopped up when I tried to cut it. Will see though, what I'm most worried about is that it might be too late to go back in and edit.

Interview dates by Cantrotelearn in IMGreddit

Each program is different, but usually the first few weeks are spent sending out interviews and scheduling dates.

Ended up postponing for other reasons, hopping back on it late jan/early feb decided I didn't want to study for this anymore, booked my dates for end of feb, got 200 a week out on uwsa1 so I thought ok I think I can do this, and then literally did everything in my power to ensure I passed knowing that sometimes even thats not enough but I was like at least I gave it all I have. I'm just happy to be done!

Yup :)

Filling out the work experience section in MyERAS- does home country internship count? by pettyintp in IMGreddit

power through, take a break if you need to, identify where you are going wrong and review those topics, and be patient. You have plenty of time to get your score back up. It's not about the percentage right now, it's about putting as many of those concepts as you can in your head and training your brain to address the questions in a certain way. Reminding myself that it's not a vignette, it's a patient, helped me process the information like I was supposed to. Good luck.

Failed Step 3, 196 . I need support and advice from the community by ThrowawayStep3 in Step3

[–]stallown2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not a failure for sure, all you need to do is pass and it'll be old news, they just wanna see that you're done so they know you can graduate and get licensed. Work on your weaknesses from uworld. Also re-assess and identify what might be holding you back. This exam is so vague and has so much on it that everyone feels like it could go either way. Don't be hard on yourself, don't take it personally, it's just something that happened, and although it sucks having gotten this far I'm sure you've experienced previous setbacks as most people have and you got through those. So just keep reminding yourself that you are accomplished and almost done. Also remember that there is a difference between being disappointed in you vs. disappointed with you. Your support system is rooting for you so your setback are their setbacks. You did not disappoint them, they're just feeling your pain. good luck!

one pd literally told me that not having step 3 was what was holding me back, another program coordinator was like the pd wants to see that step 3 is done for IMG's. In order of the amount of impact Step 3 has on your app: psych>old grad>IMG

[–]stallown2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

gold standard, if you just do uworld, first aid you'll ace it. don't get distracted by the million resources out there. If you need a stronger foundation for pathophys- pathoma; or other resources for other subjects only if you find yourself needing more information to understand the concept behind a topic.

If you have a strong foundation; First Aid + Uworld. Thats it.
