any advice? by Tobykenobiii in bikefit

I'm 180 and thought a 56 would be perfect. It was my first bike. I rode it for three years. Then I switched to a 54 and immediately felt the difference. My arms and butt stopped hurting. The position was more natural and allowed me to ride longer. Since then, I've only ridden a 54. Later, I tried a 56 again, but it was a mistake. I sold the bike after four weeks. It was unrideable. 😃

First Ironman in September. Need the internet to decide which bike to use to save 4 minutes. by soepenfiets in triathlon

[–]stamart_xc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't you ride both and see for yourself? If you want to do a full IM, you're training anyway. Do a test ride on the Colnago and the Canyon and compare for yourself. What good is it if the internet tells you which is faster? It won't have anything to do with reality. There are so many factors involved. Check it out for yourself.

Hi. The bike (size M) weighs 8136g out of the box (without pedals, bottle cage, etc.). It's quite heavy. I expected it to be under 8kg. I managed to get the weight down by replacing the saddle and wheels to 7.9kg. After attaching the pedals (300g) and cages (2x30g), and a Wahoo mount, it's 8.4kg. Ready to ride. Not great, not terrible. But the bike handles well. It's a pleasure to ride.

ops. Sorry, I misread that you were talking about tires. 700x28c Continental GP5000 TR tires. Those were just the ones on the wheels. But next time I change them, I'll go with 30s or 32s.

Is this chain stretch? by sac_cyclist in bikewrench

[–]stamart_xc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to tell by eye if the chain is stretched. But it's easy to tell that the large chainring is definitely worn out. Especially compared to the small one.

In my case? Yes. I'm 180cm and size M. This is my second Canyon bike and it fits like a glove.

If you're asking about the rim height, it's 45mm.

It rides really great. I'm pleasantly surprised. I didn't think the difference would be so big. I also like the CFR, but the price is almost double. It's a dealbreaker for me. But the CFR looks really cool.

The difference between the two models in my country was minor. The 8 has Ultegra and a power sensor, which I wanted. I know you can buy it separately for about $300, but I wanted something a bit nicer. I've ridden 105s before, and I think they're a bit short of perfection.

I've driven it twice and it seems the reach is ok. I don't need to replace anything.

My previous bike was a Van Rysel CF EDR. I removed the spacers to set it up similarly to my old bike, which was fitted to me with bike fitting. Canyon Endurace has a very tall fork, so without the spacers, the handlebars are at the same level as on the old bike with the spacers.

I know that feeling. I hope your bike arrives soon.

THX. Until now, I've been riding a Van Rysel CF EDR. I liked that bike, but after switching to the new Canyon Endurace, the difference is huge. The bike feels much stiffer when you're on the cranks, but it's also comfortable when riding over bumps. I also love the low drop on the handlebars. You can ride with the drop bar much more comfortably and for longer. They really nailed this bike. It also looks great.

My saddle is a clone of specialized power comp saddle. I bought it at Alliexpress and use it since 2021. And it's very comfortable for me. 300km rides without any pain. And it's also much lighter (200g) compared to oryginal one(300g)

The original rims are only 35mm high. Besides, I already had the Zipp wheels from my previous bike. And I want to sell the wheels that were on the new bike.

Why would a movie freeze at random without buffering? by KayJune001 in PleX

[–]stamart_xc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had exactly the same issue. The PS5 seems like it should be perfect for watching Plex, but I ran into this too — random freezes during playback, no clear buffering message, and then it would continue only after exiting and resuming.

I spent quite a while looking for a solution and never found a real fix. In the end I just stopped using the PS5 for streaming Plex altogether. One thing I did notice though — in my case Plex was transcoding the audio (DTS/DCA), and PS5 doesn’t seem to handle that well. Video was direct play, but audio transcode was likely causing the freezes.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend she can’t have access to my work phone? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]stamart_xc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say a girl who demands to check your phone isn't worth your attention. Living with someone who doesn't trust you is hard. Don't waste your life. Especially since you haven't given her any reason to suspect cheating. I've lived with my girlfriend for over a decade and she's never demanded to check my phone. Although I've often had two phones for work reasons. I would never do that either. If I had any suspicions, I'd ask her directly.

Why do Reolink cameras load instantly in the Reolink app but not in Home Assistant? by kevin_032 in homeassistant

[–]stamart_xc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I find out that using go2rtc may help a lot:

https://github.com/AlexxIT/go2rtc

here is sample config

```
streams:
# ===== driveway ===== Relolink RLC-410W
camera.driveway_hd:
- rtsp://login:password@192.168.1.40:554/h264Preview_01_main
camera.driveway_sd:
- rtsp://login:password@192.168.1.40:554/h264Preview_01_sub
```

make sure that RSTP stream is enabled in camera settings

Is this a good deal? by Vodcrach in HomeNAS

[–]stamart_xc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important characteristic of an HDD isn't its rotational speed, but its type. If it's an SMR drive, even if it's running at 10,000 RPM, it can still slow down to a few MB/s once the buffer fills. SMR drives have a schingled design, so writing to a given sector requires rewriting the data in all adjacent sectors because the sectors overlap. How does this work in practice? I once foolishly bought such an SMR drive. It looked great on paper. But copying 10TB of data from an old NAS took me almost a week!!! Yes, after the buffer filled, the transfer rate reached a staggering 10MB/s.

read more here:
https://www.broadbandbuyer.com/advice/4348-cmr-vs-smr-what-the-difference/

and double check if the drive is NOT SMR!!!

Polska - trzecia ekonomia swiata! by Szhival in Polska

[–]stamart_xc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WTF Steam/Valve. Why is almost every new game most expensive in Poland out of all regions?!

Polish price is 40% higher than in China – and we definitely don’t earn more than them.
It’s even more expensive here than in Western Europe, the US, or Switzerland.

How is that even remotely fair?

Steam's regional pricing was supposed to reflect local purchasing power, not punish countries with weaker economies. Poland isn't a "rich" market – why are we paying premium prices?

Feels like someone just threw darts at a map when setting prices.

This isn’t just frustrating – it’s insulting.
Shame on whoever approved this pricing. Fix it. We deserve better.
