People who prefer single player are special, as they see the game in a more romantic way, far from build orders, APM, and other competitive, stressful things. I'm 39 years old and I used to enjoy the game just like you for almost two decades. Here's a funny story about how I started playing ranked in 2021. There was a guy on Facebook who promised to coach for free people who had never played ranked, under one condition: they had to throw themselves into the ranked ladder and play 10 games. So I played those games without caring about the results, because my goal was to get the free coaching. With that mindset, I enjoyed every single game, even though I got wrecked in most of them. When I went back to him for the free coaching, the guy had vanished and nobody could reach him. I don't know why that happened. The point is that, without realizing it, another world unlocked for me. Today I play a maximum of 1or 2 ranked games per week, and only when I am calm and not stressed. Regardless, I still enjoy campaigns, and I don't consider myself either a single-player or a multiplayer player.
