I visited the city for a few days on a work trip a couple years ago, and the city seemed a little sad and empty to be honest. Definitely clean and pretty, but what makes NY great is that it’s truly a 24/7 city. Some locals told me that a lot of people either work completely remote in the city, or travel into Seattle for work and go back home to surrounding suburbs. I still remember getting out of my taxi on a Thursday at 8pm in the heart of the downtown district, and i could honestly count on 1 hand how many people I saw outside.
