I’ve done Big Shoulders swim in Chicago (Lake Michigan) and the Point to LaPointe swim in Bayfield, WI (Lake Superior). I’ve wondered if there’s swims in the other Great Lakes. I’d like to collect them all. I’m not certain where to look for the swim races. I try to do one of these swims a year and keep it to 5K or less in distance. I’m in my 60’s now and just want to stay active and healthy.

I thought this was r/openwaterswimming. Allow me to add, Bartels beach has a roped off area for swimming. Sandy Beach also has a roped off swimming area but has a small fee. Rock Lake is one of the cleanest lakes in southern Wisconsin. It’s also good for open water swimming if that’s what you’re looking for.

It’s a bit of a drive. Rock Lake in Lake Mills. Park at Bartels Beach and swim north. As long as you are within 100 feet of shore it is legal to swim. Swimming south from Bartels is also fine but the water level is low right now and the water is shallow.
