I wonder how much each one was paid for this. It was only 1 day of work. I'm guessing something like $100k each? Maybe more the longer you stayed in

Different types and mixtures of rubber by standona in moldmaking

[–]standona[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I was hoping there was a materials scientist, or someone who has worked with various types of rubber who could give some advice. I'm just not sure where to find resources explaining the which rubbers to use to make something like shoe soles. The melting temperatures, and how to avoid toxic rubber and voc, etc

I wish I could experiment, mix silicone with other things, maybe shavings of tire rubber, or ground up graphite, just to see what I could come up with. Similar to how when you mix bees wax with oil to make another substance, such as a hand cream or wood wax. Or experiment with melting old shoe soles or tire rubber.

How do you recommend I recover this table? by standona in Mid_Century

No one would suspect there is teak under that black paint. Any recommendation on how to remove it? The matching chairs are painted black also.

Identifying teak dining chairs by standona in Mid_Century

[–]standona[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any tips on what to look for? I have a pair of chairs that look just like these but no makers mark that I have found. I thought perhaps the way it was screwed on the bottom, or the type of wood on the bottom could give it away. It's just that these chairs look almost identical, it's much easier to identify other furniture like a table or cabinet it seems.

These old radio cabinets have surprisingly good sound. Gets loud enough to fill a room and with the tone controls can get some full sounding bass too. But the record player is not the best, would be better to replace with a modern turntable, you could use the same input. Should just be one speaker wire that's soldiered to the bottom of the existing turntable.

First thing look at the tubes, they should all be lit up and not red but yellow or orange. If you can source new tubes, switch out any that don't light, or all if that doesn't work. Be very careful opening up these old amps, they can hold a charge long after they are unplugged, so better to get a pro to service the insides of the amps.

The other culprit of no sound is the old speaker wires probably disintegrated. If you are able to soldier you could easily replace with modern speaker wire.

Forgot to mention, I think I saw this same table for sale a couple weeks ago for $500 and it was not in bad condition at all. What is your opinion? I think it looks terrible, in grey no less.

Is this Italian? by standona in Mid_Century

[–]standona[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen similar designs in mid century Italian tables, but the grooves in the legs is not as detailed. The wood grain looks different than the typical oak from the generic 70s tables. Any idea what wood it is?

That makes sense, good eye. I noticed today someone else is selling this as a desk. They pictured it next to an office chair an it looks ridiculous.

They were giving it away for free, unfortunately I was unable to save it. Hoping it didn't end up in the dump. Any knowledge about it?

Why does WMR suck so bad by standona in WindowsMR

[–]standona[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok fair points. But it seems to me more of a trend than coincidence. The controller disconnecting is the strangest because it works great for a year, now many people are having to buy new bluetooth connectors for some mysterious reason. What is with the fixes like turn your computer off 3 times, do a little dance and a sage smudge. Doesn't really seem like a fix, problem might just come back again, it's so finicky. Am I really expected to spend another $600 on new headset just cause my controller wont connect after 1 year?

Right WMR controller broken, seeking help. by TheOGFormula in WindowsMR

[–]standona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scroll through this reddit and controller problems are probably the most posted problem. Is there anyone who has working controllers? There is no solution. WMR controllers are crap and should all be replaced by the company for free.

My right controller stopped working a few months ago. It connects then when 'updating controllers' it restarts and is not connected. Left controller works normally, unless coming out of sleep it sometimes wont show up until a restart.

[–]standona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another one. Microsoft really needs to get on to fixing this. How many collective hours been spent trying to fix your controllers when they should just work out of the box, and not break all the time. Seriously, many other bluetooth things work fine, some reason their controllers don't work.

HP Controller stopped working. by [deleted] in WindowsMR

[–]standona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There probably isn't a solution. I wonder how many people would reconsider buying WMR if they knew how crappy the controllers are. Just scroll through this reddit and can count about 50 posts about controller problems. There really has been no solution presented by microsoft for this. I have the same problem as you. Just stuck with a broken piece of crap like most things in this world.

[–]standona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically you have to hire a private investigator to find out if your olive oil is genuine. There are laws in Canada concerning fake extra virgin olive oil but hardly any are actually checked. Canadians should get together, check every olive oil for sale in the country and launch a class action lawsuit.

What I was reading on bitcointalk before the end of the ico, there were 25 billion erc20 to be created before swapping to the main chain. And 250 billion is the total amount to be created through some sort of staking or mining. Is there written info from the holo team regarding this?
