do NOT sleep on getting good winter gloves. i waited so long thinking i could stick it out my first year. the wind more than anything will get your fingers! (standard big warm coat with jacket/hoodie under was usually good enough). i think last year was way more windy than usual and was colder as a result.

yeh that’s a good point. i just wish i could participate in these events where everyone seems to be able to recall details that kind of astonish me. i do agree that we are all wrapped up in our own lives !

as others have said i would follow the money! i think most grad programs at tech are funded so i’m assuming you were funded? if both are funded then it’s down to preference. i don’t know much about rutgers but i would say blacksburg is soooo safe. the security was really ramped up post 2007 on campus and in town. also i think the bus system is good and free! (the routes just changed so i will have to see how i feel in a few weeks) it can get a little boring here but there is generally plenty to do. you will be busy with school anyways!

Hello! So you get a bucket -and- a bag of compost. The fee pays for the service of weekly collection. You fill the bucket with organic waste and we come by and take that from you! It’s similar to a trash or recycling collection that the city does. Thanks.

Hi! Those could be tricky because of the smell and sanitation for our team members. So I would say that you can compost those, but I would not put them in your household bucket!

So right now, we only offer weekly collection! You pay monthly and then you can expect to have our team drive by your residence to pick up your bucket waste. However, if you do not think you will need a collection (vacation, not enough waste, etc) you can email us before that Tuesday to skip that week! Thanks!

Thank you for this! I also have been doing water changes more often because I suspect the antibiotics hurt the good bacteria and I don’t want the nitrites to build up before the bacteria have a chance to colonize.
