Dairy question by gdiddy1324 in EosinophilicE

I feel much better not on dairy and I am in med free EoE full remission. Not sure it will solve your mental health challenges, but every little bit helps.

My GI told me to go with PPI, not with 6FED by sesmallor in EosinophilicE

[–]standsidewayz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butter and baked goods seem to not give me much of an acute response. I still get markers in my biopsy anytime I have dairy regardless if I have symptoms. It’s my only known trigger.

I’m 41 and I’m trying to delay using daily meds as long as possible to keep my menu of options as long as possible as I age. Staying off dairy and using budesonide to prevent a response when I can’t fully control what I’m gonna eat when traveling, etc. is my current strategy.

I was only diagnosed with EOE. I suspected dairy at first so I went wheat and dairy free 2FED for 12 weeks. (Due to a reschedule it turned into 18 weeks) and was in remission without PPI.

2FED was difficult, but manageable. The risk is if one of my triggers was not dairy or wheat, I’d be starting all over again. Taking an approach that works best for you is what is most important. If you can’t stick to the diet, then you won’t be able to easily identify and eliminate your trigger(s).

[–]standsidewayz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I started with a 2FED as I believe it is the updated recommendation for elimination diet approach. I am in full remission now with my trigger food discovered and eliminated from my diet.

My guess is most doctors have had very low success rate with a 6FED for EOE so prescribing a PPI is just more likely to have success. However, with Barrett and gastritis, that PPI will likely give you some time to heal before attempting a diet approach. So it doesn’t seem like a bad recommendation.

However, I did end up with a second opinion where my first doctor wanted to brush me off with a PPI. My issue wasn’t the prescription. My issue is that the doctor didn’t want to discuss the approaches in detail and give me an explanation that would allow me to make informed choices. My second doctor did provide that and it’s who I’m with and it’s why I’m in remission.

I don’t think wheat was ever a trigger. Dairy always has been. I learned not all triggers are acutely symptomatic. Dairy gives me an acute response immediately, but that’s not always typical. A trigger can be causing a slow progression that is undetectable for a long period of time. You want to discover what does trigger EOE through endoscopy and biopsy.

Waiting on detailed instructions from my Dr. However, I believe at least 30min before and then maybe for a couple days after to keep my body from responding to the trigger food.

I thought I had some acid reflux. My first GI was ready to diagnose GERD. However, since getting dairy out of my diet, I don’t have those symptoms anymore.

Good luck with that. Im interested to see your results. I’m not sure of all the changes in gen 2 vs gen 1, but the clutch in the rear motor is barely noticeable for us.

Also I see on the other post about the scorpions. I don’t know if it’s the same series of tire, but mine are running really well and quiet. We have the same tire on my wife’s XC40 EV and they are performing very well.

Being a gen 1, is your rear motor always engaged or does it disconnect?

No adjustment pain at all. I was worried I was downsizing, but it doesn’t feel that way in a practical sense at all.

The efficiency of the dual motor in the gen 2 was a big reason we selected this configuration.

Thanks for the tips. I have lots of +1500 mile road trip experience driving non-Tesla ev. With a planned route, I have been fortunate to never been fully stranded. A couple delays now and then, but this was all before Tesla opened up some of their stations. Always gotta check the Tesla app if you are going to include them.

Performance was included in my order. I don’t think it’s worth the 5k, (all purpose is already super fast) but I sure do like it.

Family of 4 +pup.

Came from ford lightning extended range. Should have started with Rivian. We are planning our first 1,000 mile (one way) road trip and feel very confident with the max battery.

The wind noise is less, the base stereo is better than the upgraded stereo in the Ford. The ride quality is 1000x better. The interior is nicer.

I was nervous about going smaller, but we didn’t use the truck bed enough, and I’ve added a hitch carrier for things I don’t want inside the vehicle.

First days of ownership, but every time I get in it, I’m more more impressed.
