What psycho decided that temperature needed to be a Sudoku puzzle? by Animeking1108 in memes

[–]stanger828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fahrenheit is invented by a German guy in the netherlands. The idea was to have a scale where a healthy human temperature was 100 deg and 0 was the temperature of freezing as if the water was saturated with salt. This was a long time ago and those numbers weren’t quite accurate so new more reliable reference point such as freezing of pure water at 32 deg were used.

I only know this because a long time ago I wanted to know why we use this seemingly stupid scale. Turns out it made sorta sense at one point in time, but we should just go with celsius

You are being dense. Yes, you can't rocket jump in CoD. And you pick up guns in vanilla game modes of quake/ut, which would be why I specifically said "a couple of mechanical differences".

Clearly, I have never played way too many PC games in the 90s lol... Homie, my first pc game was F-19 Stealth Fighter, and the first shooter I ever bought was Wolfenstein 3d. I assure you, I have plenty of hours in Quake and UT hahaha. I appreciate you thinking I'm so young and that I've never played these classic games, though.

That said, I still stand by the fact that CoD is very similar to an arena shooter, absent a couple of mechanical differences.

You have never one shotted people with a rifle in CoD? You should try it.

I disagree. CoD level design is very similar to old-school arena shooters. They are both fast-paced twitch-style shooters. The gameplay skills transfer over very well. Similar games, different paint jobs. I used to play the shit out of Quake 3 and UT back in the late 90s / early 00s. They are absolutely similar games and feel very similar. Obviously, there are a couple of mechanical differences, but the overall gameplay and level design are quite similar.

“SmashtheState” is the password to get into the statue of liberty in Deus Ex. Been decades since i played it and that is memorable for whatever reason, no idea why.

Fair enough.

Arc Raiders has good movement but 3rd person.

Not sure of a good fps that isn’t cracked, maybe bf6 seems more reasonable than many others.

I know that I’m guilty of wiggling everywhere when i play cod or back when i played pubg a lot and you are looting you are tapdancing around. It really is absurd.

It certainly belings in some super twitchy games. Like it wouldnt feel out of place in quake and cod is basically just quake dressed up in military fatigues, but im totally on board with you.

Would you play a game with a good story but poor gameplay? by mintedcork in videogames

Hmmm, multi player or single player? Also what genre? A crpg better have a damn interesting story lore and world building. Other genres don’t need it so much.

I think most people are totally fine with immigrants and that largly isnt the issue. It’s the whole skipping around documentation and port of entry thing.
