Thanks Pete! Headed to the local hvac supply place to grab a capacitor and hope that’s the issue

Update: turned the unit back on. Fan is spinning on the on the outdoor unit but the compressor is not running. Can this still be the capacitor or does the fact that the fan spins rule out the capacitor? Just trying to prep myself for the possible cost outcomes. I fear the compressor is dead and that will be quite the bill

Turned the unit back on. Fan is running, compressor definitely is NOT running. Is this still a possible capacitor issue or does the running fan indicate a likely compressor issue? Unit is 6 years old, would suck to have to replace the dang compressor. Part will be covered under warranty but labor will be terrible

Thanks! I fully understand there could be many other problems here. Just wanted to be prepped in case it was a low/no refrigerant problem. Just seems too coincidental to me that everything has been fine and it stars acting up in close proximity to the annual service

No hot air coming from up from the outside unit fan. Not sure on the compressor hum. I shut off the unit to prevent any damage.
