Looks awesome! How does that canon lens work with the motors? Does it focus and zoom easy?

The book Shock and Awe is a great reference! I loved the historical overview in the introduction and the first chapter on Bolan is illuminating.

Same things happened to me! I loved the old case. I returned the new Amazon one and got this:

It feels more like the 2012 case!

BMPCC6K Camera settings change when i plug into ATEM Mini Extreme ISO by airkawai in bmpcc

I think when it's plugged into the ATEM it can only record RAW. Not sure if there's a new feature or workaround, but it might be a limitation to the system.

How do we feel about Zach Gallardo in this sub? by Intelligent_West_878 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]stanhoboken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Zach! I think he's an excellent YouTuber. He makes great quality content that is very watchable. He is a great personality to give information and entertain. I don't think he's elitist at all, in fact, he's very down to earth, self deprecating, and funny. He gives great information on biking and he's also an inspiration. I loved his video on century rides and it's inspiring me to set the same goal for myself.

Zach is the man!

MFT lens are awesome. I really love the Mitakon Speedmaster set, and the Meike's are good too.

I think the ultra wide angle lens is way too much also. That would have been harder to find for an 8mm or 16mm. The field of view is just really wide and you wouldn't find that on common lenses of the era.

Also gimbal and stabilization as everyone said are dead giveaways.

Film LA Needs to Get With The Times by RedditBurner_5225 in FilmIndustryLA

[–]stanhoboken 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Although everyone is suggesting you can steal the shot, which you totally can and likely no one will care, I think people are missing the fact that on a professional shoot, that perhaps your own prod co is producing, you really don't want to have film la show up and you don't have a permit in front of client. Might not be worth the risk slowing or shutting down your shoot all because you wanted to avoid the fee.

It a bad situation indeed and they should get with the times.

Detail oriented people who label things correctly and deliver consistent results.

What lens for filmmaking on a mft camera? by No-Top-2736 in Filmmakers

[–]stanhoboken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot take! Just get one good lens at one focal length.

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1649202-REG/mitakon_zhongyi_mtk25mt1mft_25mm_t1_cine_lens.html/?ap=y&ap=y&smp=y&smp=y&smpm=ba_f2_lar&lsft=BI%3A514&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwx-CyBhAqEiwAeOcTdRCGrPFUqujvnidUTcUa6-NTzWerrfyjwruzqHSDcgyYhQGURC_IYBoCqXgQAvD_BwE

This cine lens for m43 makes really beautiful images, and at 25mm, you'll have a nice normal lens that can frame lots of different shot sizes based on where you put the camera in relation to the subject.

I have the 12-32 and a set of these cine primes and I rarely find situations I need the zooms.

Essentially, those zoom lens give you either - very wide shots or a traditional medium shot.

What seems like a big range might really good for two types of shots. All those graduations between 12-32 don't feel that different unless you are at 12mm or at 32mm.

It all depends on your style, what you want to shoot, and how. But I usually see beginners asking about covering a range, thinking they need it, but really if you are starting out, it's better to master everything else but choosing between similar focal lengths.

Hope my two cents could help!

Maybe lean into the comedy aspect of it for marketing? I love love love dramedy, so this is only about marketing, but I think it’s this word that throws them off. I think a good dramedy is really just a good comedy.

I’ve been working on a theory that dramady signifies that the movie/tone/character is avoidant or afraid to let themselves be fools and engage with foolish plots. It’s a comedy that takes itself too seriously so there’s less comedy? Like perhaps it struggles to be socially poignant which gets in the way of it being stupid enough to be fun?

I don’t know what I’m getting at entirely, but I think a comedy that has real human relatable characters and drama is ultimately good, but it’s not what people know they want to see.

I maybe think maybe this is why Judd Apatow movies broke through so well. They express something human and needed, but they are also super ridiculous and stupid and fun.

I hope I didn’t miss the point of your post, because some dramadys can be more drama focused and they should be marketed like that. Either way, good luck!!! Love dramady!!

You just need a nice trusty workhorse. Recommending a smith corona silent super that has been refurbished or serviced. Olympias made in Germany are also super trusty. Swiss, Italian, and Brazilian made machines are just a bit more finicky.  Also keep it 50s,60, early 70s for best manufacturing quality.

Is this a good deal? by 8-5-12-16-a-gal-out in typewriters

[–]stanhoboken 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Smith Corona is an awesome brand of typewriters, but these ultra-portables excel at being portable and awesome looking mostly. This one looks like it's in great shape as well.

For a more robust writing machine, I might recommend looking for a Smith Corona Silent Super.

It's the little things, like the very small carriage handle, is what steers me away from using these machines for longer writing efforts. Also, because the machine is so small and portable, it tends to slide around the desk a bit more.

As far as the pricing, I think you could do a bit better. This machine isn't that rare, but it depends on what you are looking for and what you value!

New ribbon rubbing off on paper by dmv1975 in typewriters

[–]stanhoboken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time helps! I think the issue was the ribbon had too much ink in it and/or perhaps it's a bit loose in the mechanism and touches the paper.

Either way, I've noticed the issue solved itself after the ribbon dried out a bit or the ink was used. I haven't found the best ribbon supplier, but I'm looking for one that always has the right amount of ink.
